Bring Back NXT 2.0 Tech Wax

I love Tech Wax. The new Ultimate Wax, not so much. The big issue smudges and smears. I admit that I put it on too heavy, but now I can't get it all off. Just glancing at the car, it looks great, but when the light is right there are ugly blotches. I tried buffing by hand with a microfiber towel, then with Quick Detailer, then the towel again. This never happened with Tech Wax. How do I get this stuff off? Or do I have to strip the wax and start over with a different product.

The key is to apply Ultimate Wax as a thin layer.

If it's less than 24 hours I think you should be able to move it around and even it with damp microfiber towel. If it's longer than UQD (or even UQW) should work.

In the future you can wipe UW off after 3-5 minutes and it should prevent smearing/ smudging.

You used liquid version, right ?

If you try the 3-5 minute approach with Ultimate Liquid Wax like mentioned above, and it still doesn't work to your satisfaction, know that NXT Generation 2.0 is not going anywhere and it is still available

We still offer it and you can simply switch back to Tech Wax 2.0 and be get the results you are accustomed to in no time at all

My only problem is that it dries clear and can't really see it when it dries but thats a good thing so...

Yes, it is formulated to dry and bond very quickly as long as you follow directions and apply it whisper thin. You are not sacrificing anything as long as you follow the directions

I was a big fan of nxt 2.0 but I love Ultimate wax. I have had zero problems using it. Guys always remember less is more. I apply it whisper thin with my D/A. As for looks not really noticed a difference and that's from detailing 5 cars of different colours. It last longer which is always a bonus.

As Mike has said nxt 2.0 is still available. Would love to see a 50/50 shot with ultimate wax vs nxt 2.0. Also a long term test would be good.

Those who have streaking problems with UW liquid should give the paste wax a go. You'll have no issues.

It just seems a bit opposite of what we've always been told, to fully let wax cure to get the best benefit.

In regards to your first question, my understanding is that UW can properly cure in 3-5 minutes if applied thinly. I can't break down and give any type of mathematical comparison to say exactly how one way is better or not, but if there is a difference it is small enough that Meguiar's is OK with officially recommending the shorter time.

I think you are over thinking this - relax and enjoy the quick on and off

As for what Meguiar's has preached in the past, the actual rule has been to use a swipe test and that the amount of time can vary dramatically based on conditions, how thick it was applied, etc. Also, UW uses NEW technology... so sometimes things change... follow the new advice for the new product, not the old advice for a different product.

Regarding this thin layer and less-is-more strategy... I noticed that while using the included foam pad (love those, BTW) it requires a bit more effort to apply than NXT2.0 did, and the effort is inversely proportional to how thick the product is being spread. Is this normal?

Quick question: I've been waxing monthly with NXT 2.0. Today I was looking at the car when the sun was hitting it and noticed a slight greasy (for lack of a better word.) film on the hood. If I wanted to I could have written my name.
I use this wax sparingly and wipe it off thoroughly. I am thinking what I am seeing is the thin covering of wax that I applied. Yes?
Or didn't I remove it all?

Have you used anything on the surface since the NXT? I sometimes get something similar to what you are describing after using LT or M135. Not immediately afterwards, but it appears a few days later. This is with a base coat of M21 (equivalent to NXT).

Yes, I did hit it with UD, it helped.
