New car?

Hi
I searched the forum and found some information, but i would like to be sure.
I'm getting my new car(Volvo V50, silvermetallic) on Monday and i am not sure what to use on it. I will wash it the same night and then a layer of Cleaner Wax and on top of that the NXT tech wax. Is that a good combination for a new car or should i use some kind of polish also? Or is it ok to just use the NXT without the Cleaner Wax?

What you plan on doing sound fine. Although, you may not even need the cleaner wax before the NXT (won't hurt though). On the other hand, you may need to clean the paint, use a swirl remover, and apply your NXT.......... all depends on the condition of the paint, and the way the dealership preps it for you.

I've seen some brand new cars on the lot that looked "terrible"! I've seen some vehicles preped by the dealership that look ever worse! However, I've also seen some new vehicles that required almost nothing when delivered............. you'lll have to be the judge.

I'd be inclined to use the cleaner wax. I think some new cars are sprayed with some greasy stuff to protect them while they are being transported on ships.

Probably only cars on the top deck would be sprayed though, and that could explain the difference between those cars on the lot.

Hey,

After washing it, I would suggest claying the car using Meguiar's Quik Clay system. This will remove any bonded contaminents etc...

If the paint is excellent condition, I would use Meguiar's #9 Swirl Remover to clean the paint and to help add richness to the finish. Finally, top with 2 coats of NXT Tech Wax.

I really hope it won't have any greasy stuff or swirlmarks on it, it's a new car so it SHOULD be perfect, but who knows.

I would tell the dealership not to do any prep before you pick it up. Insist on it.

Well they prepaired it for me and didn't scratch it or anything, but it looks better now.
The products i used worked well on the V50. The Cleaner wax is very easy to work with, like NXT IMHO. After the CW i applied a layer of NXT and it felt and looked great. Saturday night i gave the car a good wash again and applied a layer of NXT and now on Sunday morning i applied another layer. The paint is very very smooth and slick and looks fantastic. The NXT is so easy to work with that i think i'll put another layer again next weekend, or maybe two
