  • Ultimate Polish vs. Super Resin Polish?

Hi, I've always been a user of the AG SRP. But now, the ultimate polish is looking good. Anyone have done a comparison between them?

I know the SRP has no abrasives so I assume it's full of cleaners and fillers, and I read that the UP is based on M205 so it has abrasives in it?

I'm not sure.. I'd like some advice please because both are on sale right now and it's gonna end soon so I want to make up my mind tomorrow and go buy it.

    Thanks!

The abrasives in Ultimate Polish of the SMAT variety, and very mild. Yes, it is derived from M205 but it's not quite as strong as M205 and it contains more polishing oils than M205. Still, it can do a lot to not only improve gloss and maybe hide some fine defects (properties of the polishing oils) but it can also further refine the finish, adding even more clarity to a well prepped surface (the SMAT abrasives doing their thing). Max results will come from using a DA buffer but hand application can still yield outstanding results.

Having no personal experience with SRP I'll have to leave a direct comparison to someone else.

I use the super resin polish on light color cars it does a very good job, as it is a all in one product. this weekend will do a side by side comparison and post it here.

One thing to keep in mind is that SRP is an all-in-one LSP. Closest Megs product is Cleaner Wax.

UP is a finishing polish/glaze. It needs to be topped with a LSP. Very different animals and difficult to make a direct comparison.

I bought the Ultimate Polish when it was on sale @ Canadian Tire last week and I was curious how it will do by hand to 3000grit wet sanding marks and it was actually slowly removing them with just a few rubs. Then I just pulled out the DA and used my Menzerna Power Finish.

It should be a good hand applied product after using clay bar to help clean up the clay marring.

You're making a big leap going from 3000 grit to UP. You are hiding / filling them with the oils, but not pulling them out by hand. Take some IP alcohol and give it a wipe, they'll still be there. Ultimate compound is a closer starting point.

To my knowledge, SRP does have abrasives....but very mild ones. On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being the highest cut), it might be a 1....

That said, it has lots of fillers and a mild sealant as well, hence the AIO designation.

I guess an interesting question would be to clarify whether UPolish has distinct "filling"/glazing properties in it? Kinda like....NXT 2.0 in a sense (I found it seems to have some mild swirl hiding/filling properties).
