Re: Ultimate wax or NXT 2.0??

Thanks for the heads up, blue apollo. NXT 2.0 is a good wax, i love the gloss it gives but as you know, we see a totally new wax and we immediately want to get our hands on that particular all new top off the line wax and try ot out for ourselves. I myself thought "oh dear.. my nxt 2.0 is now obselete, another new wax is out there that will make my car even shinier.."

But yes, the NXT 2.0 is just great. Even on black it looks great, and on reds/red mica, it almost gives the paint an almost candy-like glow. On silver, it also looks good, but i've found in my eyes the best wax on silver paint: Collinite Insulator Wax! I think i'm the only one who likes this wax on silver.. On black/dark paint, and in terms of gloss/depth, AS much as i like collinite for its durability, i find myself being swayed the NXt 2.0 route..

By the way blue apollo, your car looks majestic.

I really liked UW. Easy on, easy off and hides fine swirls really well.

That was my thoughts too when Ultimate Wax came out. I wondered what I was going to do with all the NXT 2.0 that I had? I have quite a bit of it, since I tend to stock up on things when I find a good price. I actually still have about 3 bottles of the original NXT liquid wax unopened in the closet! HA! I might use the Ultimate wax on my wheels or something to use it up - eventually.

You're right about the "candy-like" glow that NXT 2.0 gives! I love that! I haven't been able to enjoy that for the past couple days however - it's been raining non-stop. I have had light colored cars all my life - this blue one is the darkest I've had. I always had nice results with NXT 2.0 on the light colors. Never had a silver car though. Some of them look really nice, but it appears to be a color that doesn't give you those reflections as easily as others. But it's still a really classy color to have on a car. I've heard tons of good things about the collinite wax.

Hehe! I'll try the ultimate wax as soon as it gets here. Who knows? maybe one of our cars here might "like" the Ultimate wax.. Regardless of how many waxes I still have! I'll take your experience with as much value/importance as much as the others who've had good experience with Ult.wax.

Well with collinite insulator wax, I've had a few streaking issues with it, just as others in another forum. It may go on thin, but there is a slight learning curve to it. It actually has a bright look vs. the NXT 2.0 which is a surprise to me. You can add it to your arsenal, but hold on to that NXT 2.0.. Add it on top of your current wax if you want, but the NXT 2.0 surprises me in terms of its shine even compared to coll. 845 and 476s.. Its almost like the NXT is saying "don't mess with me" to the other waxes..

I don't think you need the collinite.. your car is shiny enough, any shinier and you may find yourself wearing shades at the most inapproriate time of the day! LOL!

Re: Ultimate wax or NXT 2.0??

I like NXT for the shine on my silver BMW. It seems to make the lighter colors shine. I have tried a lot of waxes and NXT is probably my favorite on the light colors which is all I have right now. I bought Ultimate but haven't used it yet. I also have Collonite 845 coming in a few days. I will try to make a heads up comparison on a few waxes. 845, Gold Class, NXT and Ultimate

Man, i should get my hands on ultimate wax!!! I think you'll notice that the 845 is a "bright" wax and deep at the same time. I do find that it looks a bit different to other carnaubas i've tried. Well, in my eyes at least..

I've seen pics of cars in this forum coated with ultimate wax. It seems to have a soft (almost ghostly) glow, unlike NXT 2.0 with its hard candy-coat yet deep look.

NXT 2.0! The best wax on Earth! LOL!

I'm not joking...I almost left my two Ultimate Wax products at the local car wash as a "present" for someone to find. (I actually did do that with the two water "magnets" I had bought) They are officially out of my detail bag now. I gave them countless chances to work for me. I think I might empty out the liquid version and replace the contents with NXT 2.0....because in my eyes NXT 2.0 liquid is the true "Ultimate wax"! LOL!

Finally a nice day here...I looked at my car this morning...and with NXT 2.0 it looks like a melted pool of blue glossy chocolate! (to keep in line with your candy-coat description!) Just awesome.

Thanks for the complements on my car...the avatar pic doesn't capture how good it actually looks with fresh wax on it.

I do miss the days of trying different waxes...but I just feel at this point that I'd be throwing away money in trying them. I think I settled on my wax to use and I doubt there is anywhere to go from there.

Much like "Endurance" Gel for tires. I searched and searched for something that would last long, give me the look I wanted...and Endurance is that for sure. I stopped looking for tire dressing. Believe me...I tried so many products for tires before Endurance. Now I know not to even bother trying any other tire gel.

Re: Ultimate wax or NXT 2.0??

I will try the Ultimate wax in paste soon (hopefully!), the articles here seem to state that its easier to use than the NXT 2.0 paste. I found the NXT 2.0 (paste) a bit difficult to use, its not as "effortless" or doesn't glide as easily as synthetics should. It does make you apply it more methodically vs. the liquid. It does(in my experience) not streak or smear. The end result is an even looking finish (especially on dark color paint) even if removal is a bit more difficult vs. liquid.

Hopefully this is the same as Ultimate Paste wax. I want it to be easier than NXT paste and less streaking/smearing than the liquid.. I want "effortless application/removal" but i also want to feel myself working the wax in to the paint. it somehow makes the entire process more satisfying.

Update on collinite 845: It is definitely a bright look wax, but it does deepen the look of the paint. I just coated our black car, its hard to explain. It seems to look like a very highly polsihed but thin layer of clear coat, as opposed to the slightly thicker coated look of the NXT..

That is my experience with NXT 2.0 Paste as well. I bought one container of the paste version...and probably about 30 bottles of the liquid (yes, 30). Again - just the conclusion that once you find something that works so well for you and going with it.

I did find Ultimate Paste wax easier to remove than the liquid version.

I bought a waffle weave towel and it had the same effect on me. The dual sided drying towel from Walmart is the best drying tool that is made, less than ten bucks and it will dry the whole car no strreaks and no wringing.

I'm sticking with NXT 2.0. Don't even think I'll try Ultimate Wax. Too many questionable posts on the product.

I got some large microfiber drying towels from Walmart - don't know if those are the same you are talking about. But I've had them for several years now and they're great.

My other drying "towel" is the Absorber. It's fantastic for getting the bulk of the water initially off your car. It wrings out completely dry and easily. It doesn't push around the water at all..it does exactly what it's named : Absorbs! After that I just go over the surface with the large microfiber towels to get everything perfect - but there really isn't usually much water left for the microfiber towel to pick up.

It really has been 50/50 on the results on the Ultimate wax. I'm still really shocked at how disappointed I was in it.

So what are you going to do with the other 29 bottles of the stuff? (Personally, I like to try out a product before investing heavily in it.)
