  • NXT Wax

I did my 18 year old Toyota 4X4 truck with #66 and it looked great. Then I wanted to try out my new NXT wax. I put it over the #66 X2. The truck looks great except for the hood. I have streaks all over the hood. The hood was not hot when I applied the wax. I have tried reapplying the NXT and that didn't work. I have tried #66 to clean it up and that didn't work. I have tried ColorX and no luck. Does anybody have any suggestions? I also tried E1 quick detailer to get the streaks off before I tried the cleaner waxes. All these products were applied by hand. The whole truck looks killer except the hood. And the hood paint is some of the better paint on the truck. The bed fades the most. Any help is appreciated, Wes

One of the big reasons for streaking on a vehicles finish is because the wax needs more time to dry on the surface. Be sure to give the wax time to set up. 15 minutes should do but if you are unsure you can always try the swipe test. Simply swipe your finger across the wax, if the wax comes up without streaks you are ready to remove the wax, but if the wax streaks when you wipe it it needs more time.

If you have any more questions pleas give me a call.

Remove the wax with a wax removing solvent -- Prepsol or 3M Wax and Adhesive Remover -- and start again with a cool hood. Make sure that the hood is cool when you apply the solvent.

          Hey,

NXT Tech Wax may also streak if it is left on the paint too long before removal. As mentioned, it is best to perform the swipe test to see of the product is indeed ready for removal. Generally, this will occur in 10 - 15 minutes.

Give the the swipe test a try!!
