So today it was raining in Southern California
(yeah it doesn't happen all that often) and I had to drive up to Los Angeles. I noticed the whole time while driving on the freeway that the water droplets on my hood were racing up my hood faster than I have ever seen them move before. No I wasn't driving faster than normal
. I have used many different types of waxes and the speed of the water droplets was noticeably faster than NXT, M21, M26, M16 etc.
There was an accident on the freeway so heavy traffic built up and I was moving about 5 mph on the freeway at one point. The rain on my hood was no longer sliding up my hood since I was not longer moving fast. However the rain droplets beaded incredibly tight. They were very small little beads that were very close to each other. Once again, this was the tightest beading I had ever seen. Once I cleared the accident and started to accelerate, the really cool part happened.
From the front of my hood, it almost looked like a line of water was coming towards the windshield. The little droplets were forming into bigger ones, picking up the others on the way. It literally looked like someone had a huge invisible squeegee and was sweeping the water beads off my hood towards my windshield. This looked really really really cool. Once they reached the end of my hood, closest to the windshield, the rain droplets continued to sheet as fast as they had sheeted before.
Overall I am extremely impressed with the hydrophobic properties of Ultimate Wax. I'm happy to see that there is still visible protection of Ultimate Wax on my truck. I'll have to see how much longer it lasts now. Just for reference, I applied Ultimate Liquid Wax a month ago and since then I have washed my truck once and QD'd it 3 times.
Thanks for reading!
