  • Shampoo problems!!!

    Hi

I wash my motor every Friday.
    Wax motor every week-end.

Last week it was raining and i had to leave the water on the car.
It dried before i got there!!!!

It stained the paint a bit.

So i got out the GC shampoo washed and dryed but most of the water stains did not come off

    Why peeps???

(Do u guys get AutoGlym products??)

    Thanks
    Dave

    Hey dave_st170,

Unfortunatley, waterspots happen from two things.

    1) The water leaves behind mineral deposits which show up on the paint...

    2) The combination of Water and the sun can actually etch your paint finish...

Both cases look almost identical on the paint. What I recommend you doing is just rewash the car. If they are just mineral deposits, washing the car will take those right off for you. If they are etched in the paint, they will not come off with just washing. Next Step is to use a good Paint Cleaner to get rid of them, (Medallion Paint Cleaner, Body Scrub, ScratchX, my favorite being Medallion Paint Cleaner). You work that into the paint in a small section, and then Magically your water spots will start to disappear.

I know, I wish there was a 5min answer. Trust me, it would make my life easier. PC's do make it be less work in the long run, but you can definitely do it by hand. Good Luck buddy!

MPPC can be used with a PC also. That would be a great idea if you have a lot of water spots!

Yes, AutoGlym products are sold in the US but you don't see them much.

They're mainly sold though small specialty retailers and have near zero visibility over here.

When you have a company like Meguiar's in your backyard, with great products available everywhere and knowledgeable customer service just a free phone call away there's little incentive to go hunting for unusual foreign imports.

The only guy I know who uses Autoglym is a UK expat.
