What Is The Differences Between GC Trim Detailer And UP?
Re: What Is The Differences Between GC Trim Detailer And UP?
Hello JJ.
Both are water based but UP is a newer product that has polymers in formulation which will help the product to bond the surfaces, thus assuring a more durable product.
Once you want UP bonds perfectly to the surface you will usually prepare the surface with a vinyl cleaner or APC.
Re: What Is The Differences Between GC Trim Detailer And UP?
Ultimate Protectant uses advanced polymers for even stronger bonding to the surface which makes it really long lasting. After rain and washing it won't streak. UP requiers a clean surface to attach to so quick cleaning with something mild like APC or APC+ would make it last even longer.
UP can be used on interior and exterior surfaces. It creates like a clear coat protecting barrier. UP is also available as a spray starting this year.
Gold Class Trim Detailer is for exterior use. It also offers good protection but not as long as UP.

I can tell you I love UP. After using it this weekend. Miata dashes have a habit of getting too shiny if you use the wrong stuff. Being in a top down car this is important to avoid to much glare. UP has a good sheen to it without being to glossy in my opinion. No greasy feel at all. Meguiars should have another hit on there hands.

Hi JJ, I hope that this is not considered as thread jacking, but I've wanted to ask this for a while, and since your topic is about the differences between GC Trim Detailer and UP, I believe this is the best place to ask - can Ultimate Protectant clean wax residues? I've read that GC Trim Detailer can do this on the label, but not on Ultimate Protectant.
Thanks in advance,
Pierre
ps: if this (asking about something in someone else's thread) is not allowed, I'm sincerely sorry, and I will refrain from doing so again in the future. Thanks again!

Ultimate Protectant works more like a protectant than a cleaner.
You could use All Purpose Cleaner (APC), All Purpose Cleaner Plus (APC+) or M39 Heavy Duty Vinyl Cleaner for wax residue removal. If needed use a soft brush with one of those products.

Thanks for the info, Greg! If I'm not mistaken, these are all from the professional line... need to ask the local Meg's shop then. Thanks again!

Hi Pierre,
no problem mate, I would love to see the replies as well!
Re: What Is The Differences Between GC Trim Detailer And UP?
Older post, I know, sorry. Anyway...does GCTD streak like UP?
I hate to say it but UP steaks BAD. Don't believe me? Look down my doors from my mirrors and handles on my WHITE Dodge Ram. Streaks so bad I won't use it anymore. Tired of the black lines running down my doors. Hyper Dressing works better for streaking (still some, but not like UP), but just doesn't last too long.
Re: What Is The Differences Between GC Trim Detailer And UP?
Some plastic on my car is the same... just doesnt like dressing.
I believe the GC Trim Detailer will be more likely to run than the UP, though you could buff off the excess Gold Class to try and stop that. UP shouldn't have any excess left behind if applied and worked in a little.
