I just finished a clay then Ultimate - Compound, Polish, Wax. Unfortunately the car the was white (volvo), so I will be speaking to the usability of the products more than the ascetics. The car was in a state I will describe as the horizontals needing Compound and the verticals not.
Ultimate Compound: This is not a new product so I won't go into much detail here other than to speak to the combination. I taped two hood sections and did one with UCompound + UPolish and one with only UPolish. For this car, I was able to achieve a similar (not exact) result in each section. However, and this is key, it was faster and easier to use UCompound + UPolish. In other words, a quick UCompound followed with a quick UPolish net a faster and better result than one longer and more agressive UPolish application. In this case, the least agressive product worked but had to be used so aggressively that it wasn't the right answer. I used the combination for the rest of the car.
Ultimate Polish: I used a white LC pad on a PC 7424 with varying speed from 4 - 5.5. Like the above, I taped two hood sections - this time to compare this product to 205. The product was not necessarily runny but far far from thick - think warm squirt mustard consistency. The UPolish has a long, visual, work in time. In other words, it's fairly dummy proof as you are able to see the product and easily tell when you need to stop. The product work-in capability is longer than the instructions say, meaning you can continue to work in longer if you so choose.
Removal is somewhere in between 205 (relatively easy) and Swirlx (can be a hemorrhoid), but leans toward 205. When I used too much product or didn't remove fast enough, lube was needed. Cleaning ability works as claimed and seemed on par with 205 - but, as insinuated above, anything more than cleaning is probably better serviced with a UCompound / UPolish combo.
Even though finding a noticeable ascetic difference was difficult on white, I'd venture to say that a more appropriate visual comparison might have been 07 or Swirlx. UPolish had a little more gloss and little less of the distinguished uniformity provided by the 205 look. Again though, white car - so take the looks comparison with a grain of salt. Overall the car looked very nice after polishing, not overly oily or greasy, high shine and reflectivity.
Ultimate Wax (Paste): Hand applied with the accompanying pad. Buttery carnauba type application. Smells like wax, not unpleasant, not pleasant - just is. A little different aroma but the same way I would describe GC+ Paste.
The first coat I applied to the whole car, and like with NXT, I then waited about 45 min before removal. Removal was not hard, but more difficult than expected. I certainly experienced some towel grab. For the second coat (12 hours later), I removed 10 minutes after application. Removal was easier but i am not sure if this would have been effective for a first coat. Bottom line, I'm thinking it might just be a little harder to remove than NXT, a litte easier than GCP+ and just plain easier than 26.
I did not tape and smacked the trim a few times. On the black plastic trim I could easily see where it had been hit. I would casually finish the current panel, grab a towel and wipe off the trim where hit. Wiped off easy - no stains 24 hours later.
Immediately after removal the car looked very nice. The UWax definitely improved on the look left by the UPolish. It hid some of the defects I didn't get corrected. It also muted some of the car's major defects (paint chips, deep scratches, etc). I can see this product being used by normals as the sole product (other than wash) and them being happy with it. The feel was slick and also a little soft.
Eight hours after removal, the look had improved slightly but the feel had changed dramatically. Very, very slick and not soft. Moving past this point, unfortunately, I am not likely to see this car again and will not have a clue how long the UWax lasts. So no later reviews.
Overall: These are typical Megs products - that is to say they are consistent with Meg's Value Proposition. They work as described, are consumer friendly, and produce a look that is well beyond their reasonable price point.
