For sure, GC Trim Detailer is WATERBASED. Everytime I wash my car, it starts streaking (property of being a waterbased product).

I think UC is WATERBASED too, however, is has additional polymers to add durability.

        Thanks, guys!

Yes, both are water based. Typically, water based products do tend to wash off in the rain or when the car is washed - that's just what happens with a typical water based product. But UP contains some specialized polymers that allow it to bond to a surface much the way a sealant bonds to paint, so it sticks around a lot longer.

The really important things to keep in mind when applying UP are:
            • clean the surface thoroughly before application - M39 or even glass cleaner works well
            • work the product thoroughly into the surface, sort like when applying a paint cleaner to paint, but use it very sparingly - a little goes a long, long way
              • you know how normally people say to apply a dressing, wait a bit, then wipe off the excess? If you apply UP correctly there is no excess to wipe off. If there is, you did it wrong.
