  • Application of ScratchX 2.0 Left Paint Hazy

    Hi all,

Applied some ScratchX 2.0 last night to work some light scratches out of my paint. Product worked great...removed the scratches like a charm. I had to work the product in a bit due to the nature of the damage (door came in contact with garage wall), but it eventually worked out. Only problem is that the area I worked looks a little dull/hazy compared to the area around it.

I have a feeling that I probably worked the ScratchX in too hard. I used a small lens cleaning cloth to work it in, hoping not to cause more scratches The haze isn't major, but I was hoping someone could recommend a product to remove the haze or polish it back up to an equal shine. I tried a layer of wax in the are but that didn't seem to change much.

I'm coming from a car where you REALLY had to work ScratchX to get it to do anything at all. It appears with my new car (which is black), the paint is much softer/fragile and that same technique may be damaging.

    Thanks!

One option would be to apply the product again, more gently.

Or moving to something like SwirlX.

You may like to look into some of the soft foam applicators, they spread the pressure out a bit more.

Try to pick up some Swirlx and a foam applicator.

      Or

Work Scratchx over the surface again with very little pressure. This may remove the haze caused by a lot of pressure. If this diesn't work then you may want to pick up some Swirlx.

Definitely go over the area again with ScratchX 2.0 but use a foam wax applicator pad and just moderate pressure, easing up on that pressure as you go. It may take a couple of passes to correct the haze but it should do it. If it doesn't, some Cleaner Wax or ColorX should do the trick and, well, you really should wax after using a paint cleaner anyway.

Go over this spot one (or two) more time, swith ScratchX 2.0 with LIGHTER pressure. After that, try something less abrasive, like SwirlX or even your original ScratchX, then follow it up with a polish/wax or just wax.
