  • NXT Spray Wax- Cleaners?

    This is my first post, but i am a long time Mike fan from various places

    Anyways, just a quick question. Are there any slight cleaning properties in the NXT spray wax?

    I believe there is, just a tiny bit though, it is a booster wax more than anything to your existing coat of wax, it provides renewed gloss and protection against the elements.

      Thanks, thats what i thought.

      I have this idea behind the reson for the slight cleaning in the NXT.

      The cleaning is ever so slight, so some people may be wondering whats the point.

      I think it is similar to how you would prep a surface for painting-not quite the same but its similar.

      The slight cleaners will disturb the surface just enough so that the new application has something to bite into. When its applied after polishing it serves to dig down to the paint surface if there is anything left behind, and when appllied a second time, it breaks the surface of the old coat just enough for it to bond well.

      Perhaps NXT is soo slick it wouldnt be able to bond to itself without a little disturbance.

      anyways, just my thoughts on the matter.

        Just to chime in,

        There is a sleight amount of specialized cleaning agents in the NXT Spray Wax, the purpose of which is to clean and remove any unwanted contaminants that may be present since the last time the surface was cleaned, polished and protected. This is a good thing.

        Wax won't stick to dirty paint.

        If you were to apply a pure wax over embedded dirt at the microscopic level, this will act to trap or seal the dirt into the paint and thus cloud the paint. The best looking finishes in the world are the clearest looking finishes.

        Here's a portion of an article I wrote called "A lesson from White Paint', that explains why cleaning is important.

        ~~~~~~~~~~~~
        If you are a serious car enthusiast, and it’s important to you to keep your car’s finish in tip top shape, then it’s important that you understand that dirt is building-up on your car’s finish if in fact your car is a daily driver. This is not a problem, per se, you simply need to use a paint cleaner or gentle polish to clean the paint surface and remove the build up. A paint cleaner, (also referred to as a pre-wax cleaner), or a quality cleaner/wax is so important for good regular maintenance of your car’s finish. Dedicated paint cleaners and the chemical cleaners used in cleaner/waxes, remove the dirt build-up off and out of your finish. This restores clarity to your paint enabling your eyes to clearly see the true color without any contaminant blocking your view.
        The slow build of dirt in paint explains why the majority of car waxes you find on the shelves of your local auto parts stores are usually some type of cleaner/wax. If you merely wash a car whose paint has accumulated dirt build-up on both the surface and in the pores, then apply a pure wax, or at least a wax with little or no cleaning ability, you will in essence be sealing or locking the dirt into the paint. This will exacerbate the clouding-effect and it will also accelerate the deterioration of the paint itself.
        Working on daily drivers that had single-stage white paint taught me the importance of cleaning paint, before waxing, and to share with people that have medium to dark colored cars that their paint looses it’s clarity over time because it becomes cloudy with an embedded dirt stain that is hard for their eyes to see because it builds up evenly and slowly over time.
        NXT Spray Wax is one of my most favorite products, it keeps our black Honda Pilot looking like I just spent hours detailing it when if fact I spent about 20 minutes.
            Sinse this topic is already here, what does everyone think about the spray wax being like a quick wax for rims?
            I just tried to wax my wheels with an applicator, and what a pain in the neck!
              Hey,
              Detailing wheels is a dirty and often difficult job. But if the time is spent, you will be rewarded with beautiful looking wheels. I use sealants like #20 Polymer Sealant or NXT Tech Wax on my wheels. If using NXT, once the initial coat is applied, then it would be a good idea to use the spray wax to boost the finish after a few washes.
              I love the look of NXT Tech Wax on paint and the wheels!
                  Hey,
                  I use Meguiar's All Season Dressing. An excellent product. Spray it on, and come back in about 3-5 minutes and wipe off with a MF towel.
                      Hey,
                      LOL! Yes, I do use a dedicated MF on tires. Their ability to absorb far exceeds a cloth, IMHO. So I can regulate the amount of sheen I want on the tires.
