I've had luck with RainX removing spots also. Just applying the regular protectant once or twice and spots were gone before I had a chance to deal with them.

i hate to keep dragging out the same topic, but will M04 scratch my glass at all? or is that almost impossible?

No, just use a soft terry or foam applicator.

            Re: Swirl-X Safe On Glass?

i picked up some M04 today. i decided to go with the heavy cut cleaner over UC for the fact that it is tried and true in removing glass water spots. i hope to try it out tonight. wish me luck!

i didn't have any glass cleaner either, so i picked up some rain-x glass cleaner with water repellent to top it off with. i really wanted to try some nxt glass cleaner, but couldn't find it in any of the 4 stores i went to

i just tried a small test spot on one of my rear glasses. i clayed it first then applied the heavy cut cleaner with a terry cloth applicator. it took a little elbow grease, but the water spots are gone!! i topped it off with my rain-x 2 in 1. the small test spot looks great! i tried to take a picture, but you can't really make out anything due to the reflection. i would have went ahead and done all my windows, but i thought i had better wait until i can get some masking tape to tape off the rubber window seals.

                Re: Swirl-X Safe On Glass?

well...a bud light and an entire Volbeat cd later (50 minutes), i've finished ONE GLASS! i never dreamed it would take this long to do just one glass. does it take everyone else this long when working by hand? i also felt like i had to use a lot of heavy cut cleaner. do you guys keep working it in after it looks like there isn't anymore there? i probably reapplied my applicator 5 times on just one glass. i would work it in until i couldn't hardly see it anymore then i would reapply.

a little piece of advice that most of you probably already know, but i didn't think of until after i already started....clean the interior side of the glass before you start working on the exterior side of the glass. i had several smudges and spots on the interior side that looked like they were on the exterior side. i scrubbed to try and work several of them out only to look closer to see that it was on the other side of the glass

Using a piece of terry may go faster than a terry applicator, maybe not. Either way, this is kind of how detailing works. Some stuff is easy, some stuff is hard. Also the fresher the problem, usually the easier solved.

Nick down there in Texas may take a week to get a show car detailed....

                    Re: Swirl-X Safe On Glass?

one last question.....since the heavy cut cleaner is so abrasive, can i apply it in up and down motions with moderate pressure on my glass instead of circular motions? or will that be too abrasive and scratch the glass?

You can apply it in any direction you need/want to.

I have water spots on my windows and will try some different products to see what works best at removing them. I will post results when I have finished.

I have really hard water and some dried in the sun on my windows after washing my car. Scrubbing them with a window cleaner or plain water didn't remove them. I tried distilled white vinegar(5%) right out of the bottle onto a microfiber cloth. With very little elbow grease it removed the water spots in no time.

This is a great tip. Something that's been used for quite a long time on house windows as well. Really works wonders.

Might sound crazy but a dab of high octane gasoline on a terry shop towel works amazing on glass spots that wont respond to glass cleaners. Just be careful and dont get it on the paint around the window and obviously for exterior glass only!

Try rain X might have to do it 2 times I always do it before I wash the car washing gets all the extra off and leaves a clean spot free windscreen.
