Hi all. My wife 2006 Sequoia sit stays outside here in So. Cal. and between the salt air and the sun the paint has oxidized. It gets washed every 2 weeks and I've kept the paint relatively clean with a clay bar so its feels smooth but has little to no luster.
I use to detail while in college, way back when, and we used several Meguiar products, however, their current numbering system is a bit different. Where as in the past a #1 was like liquid sand paper, a #3 was for moderate polishing and oxidation, #7 or a #9 for swirls and sealant, the new product numbering has me a bit confused.
I believe I want to start with something in the middle of the abrasive range, maybe a 83 or a #6 on the scale? Do you think that will 'cut' it or do I need to go to a #1 or a #4 compound. I believe 105 is the most aggressive and is probably similar to the old #1?
What would others recommend? The paint needs serious cutting / polishing so out comes the old Makita and I'm planning on using one of the soft buff W-7000 foam cutting pads.
Thanks for the insight.
