Brand new white car - which wax?

Hi there, Just found this website and I would like to learn more about your products.

I have a 1 week old white color Mazda and I'm looking to preserve and protect the paint as much as possible. The weather here alternates between very strong sun and heavy rains. Can you recommend suitable wax / protective products from your line?

My process would look like:

1. Wash - Gold Class soap, or other good soap.
2. Clay - Smooth Surface clay kit.
3. ColorX
4. Wax - Nxt 2.0

I just looked at ColorX and it says it's for reviving colors, polishing out scratches and swirls. There's none of that on my car as it's completely new.

For the NXT, does it matter whether it's 2.0/spray/paste?

How about doing a Gold paste layer and then applying a NXT spray? The thinking being applying a Carnuba and then polymer sealing on top. Does that make any sense?

if you are considering doing a Carnuba layer, it goes after the sealant layer. So it would be NXT2.0 liquid or paste, then the Gold class.

It says that.... But it is just a great cleaner/wax. Not too mild, so it gets the daily driver dirt off, not too strong. Gets some polish on there, and the first coat of wax. (2 are recommended). Easy to apply, let dry, and wipes off pretty easy.

I wouldnt use it to remove swirls or scratches myself.

No matter which wax you choose, you will want the liquid or paste. The spray waxes are more of a 'booster' wax, to use after future washes and extend the life of the 'base coat' of wax.

The would be nothing wrong with ColorX then Gold Class+. You could use the Quick Wax, Nxt Spray Wax, or Ultimate Quick Wax (much better choice) after future washes.

What you would have read is that 'fresh paint' should not be waxed for 90 days while it cures.

Most new cars will have been painted more than 90 days ago, and will have had the paint baked on at the factory to speed curing.

If you are satisfied with the overall appearance of the car then NXT Tech Wax 2.0 would be our top pick - either liquid or paste. It's a fully synthetic product and is currently our longest lasting, best protecting wax.

But even a brand new car can have some issues, whether above surface bonded contaminants that might make the paint feel a bit rough to the touch, or fine swirl marks from washing (even at the dealer before you purchased it). We've seen plenty of brand new cars that needed a lot of help to look right.

That generally only applies to aftermarket repaints. Factory paints are very different than aftermarket paints used in body shops. They not only are cured in very high temp ovens prior to final assembly, but they have to be cured this way. A body shop couldn't use factory paint because they don't have ovens that can cure paint at such high temps. And even if they did, they couldn't put a fully assembled car in it without damaging the vinyl, plastic and rubber. Aftermarket paints need some time to outgas in order to fully cure, usually 60 - 90 days. Factory paints are almost fully cured before they leave the factory, and once they travel from factory to dealer to your hands, they are cured. You can wax a factory paint job as soon as you get the car home (unless you pick up at the factory itself, having just watched it come off final assembly - you might want to wait a couple of weeks after that).

I have had white cars for many years...my favorite car color. After using only a carnuba paste for most of those years, I recently switched to NXT 2.0 liquid and couldn't be more pleased. I agree with Michael Stoops, you can't go wrong with NXT 2.0.
