Ok, I applied NXT to my stang about maybe 2 weeks ago and it did a great job covering the swirl marks, but now i ahve issues with it. For all you in the warmer climates you may not know, but it snowed up here in the Northeast for 2 different days last week, therefore salt on the roads. Finally today I got a chance to get my car washed, not by hand though b/c i'm at school. So I took it to a touchless carwash that just squirts the soap on then power washes it off. After that wash, I now see all the swirl marks again!!!!! What the heck happened? Did the car wash soap wash all the wax away? It had a coat of NXT followed by a coat of #26! Did all of the filling properties of the NXT get washed away????? Anyone else have this problem? Also, how strong is that soap that they use b/c it doesnt seem too strong if it doesn't even really get the car clean! Those things are bad I just use them only when I can't wash my car by hand! Please HELP!

I know how you feel about the roads. Im in the UP and it's hardley even warm enough to wash and wax here. So it's been two weeks and you run it through the car wash and swirls are back. When you originally waxed it what did you use before. What type of wash and what, if any cleaners, swirl removers, polishers did you use? We have to no-touch power washes here and they spray out some high pressure water and im guessing you did not use a cleaner, polish, or applied the wax way too thin? I guess im not sure. But you do have to tell us what you used before so they can give you better answer.

I've never used a Touchless Car Wash before, so I don't know what kind of soap they use or how strong they are.

Let me pass this on to someone that might know...

      Mike

      p.s.

By the way, have you ever used any waxes that have help up against the Touchless Car Wash?

In other words, if another wax made your finish look good, did it still look good after the Touchless Car Wash?

It would seem to me that if the car wash doesn't actually have any type of brush, or mitt, or whatever that comes into direct contact with the finish, then it would depend totally on strong cleaners to remove the dirt.

      Just pondering the idea...

I always use Meguiar's products. I used Gold Class to wash, then I used #9, then NXT (Which I actually let cure for a long, long time before it even touched any elements) as per instructions, and then the next day applied #26...the car never left the garage inbetween NXT and #26. It looked great and hid the swirl marks well, but now they are back . Don' worry I'm not leaving Meguiars

p.s. Mike I have only used Meguiar's waxes and like everyone has talked about it still "beaded" after the car washes, but that doesn't mean it was still protecting. Damnit why can't there be some test strip that you apply to your paint and it reacts with the chemicals that protect your paint and turns pink, if not it turns blue.

It depends on the soap that the owner chooses...

MOST touchless washes use a two stage detergent system. Stage one is a low PH acidic detergent. The second stage is a high PH alkeline detergent to neutralize the acid. They need these types of detergents in order to clean without agitation. The detergents are VERY harsh on sealants/waxes, again depending on how the owner has chosen to dial them in(or choose them for that matter). Most are pumped through a dosatron, could be cut 120/1, could be cut 60/1.

FWIW, I have never used a touchless, but some of my customers use them in between details. I have found that MPPC and #20 hold up very well in touchless carwashes. As far as NXT goes, I am still learning if it holds up or not.

The shop I used to work at would guarantee their coating for up to two years (with reseal @ 6 months) UNLESS you used a no-touch car wash because the soaps in them were so strong that they would strip off the 5-6-step process in less than three washes.
