  • It is just not the NXT shine, but the feel of it too..

    Hi all,

Reading through the previous thread on NXT vs GC, I am certainly an NXT convert. My car's black sapphire pearl, and NXT brings out the depth and reflectivity which is even more superior than when the original coat of paint was newly sprayed.

What I really like besides the look, is the "slippery and smooth" feel of the freshly waxed surface every time I touch the surface. I like it so much that I almost wax every week, if not every other week, but due to time limitation, I do a couple of panels each time... Been doing this for 2 months and there are at least 3-4 layers of NXT on top of each other applied at different times (with DC2 underneath the original layer). There is much discussion on diminishing returns on layering, but to my eyes, it seems to look (and feel) better with each layer.

I have been applying NXT Tech Wax to my own vehicles about once a month since last spring and have also noticed the slippery and smooth feel of the surface. Let's see, NXT smells good, looks good and feels good too. Now there's a combo!

Just on time with my experiment.

I'm still determining the truth behind the diminishing return on layering NXT. So far, I've layered 4 coats by now, and there's still a difference every time I apply a coat. I'm set to do 10 coats in 1.5 mos and see the point where the "deepening" effect will stop.

Also, coinciding with this experiment is NXT's durability, upon reaching the maximum number of coats, I'll try to determine how long the shine will last.

On my initial conclusion, since I do NXT washes in between coats, I noticed sleekness is reduced in just 1 wash. However, there was a time that right after I applied another coat and allowed to cure, NXT seemed to WITHSTAND heavy acid rain coupled with salt water. This happens when cruising on the way to my hometown island during the holiday season (the Philippines has 7107 islands). Upon arriving to our place, I immediately pressure-spray the CR-V with pure water to remove mud, salt, road grime, water spots etc. all without NXT wash, after drying:

      IT'S STILL SLEEK!

      Why the inconsistency?

Heavy rain, salt water, mud, grimes, pressure-spray water = sleekness retained.

NXT Wash (1x) = sleekness reduced

Can someone explain this phenomenom? Or this is just an isolated case?
I wash and wash my car until the whole thing disappeared!

That's a new observation you have made. I certainly will not be able to test it out as I do not live near the coastal areas. But I have to say that the slickness of NXT is such that when I have specks of mud/dirt on the car, I can just use a finger to brush it off. Pretty darn amazing. It is like the dirt is merely "floating" on the surface. This is despite having washed the car a couple of times.
