Re: Stand Alone Wax
You've asked this same question a couple of times so maybe we're missing something. How are you defining "stand alone wax"? Do you mean an all in one cleaner wax, or just a wax that can be used without any sort of prep beforehand?
If you mean an all in one type product that will lightly clean the paint and leave wax protection all in one step, then Cleaner Wax, ColorX, D151, M66, M20 or M06 are all fine. But if you're looking for a wax that you can use without having to do any prep beforehand, well, that's kind of a different story. Technically you can use any wax on a just washed and dried car. But if the car has a lot of contaminants or defects then don't expect to get the maximum out of any wax.
If that's the case with your car, then a cleaner wax should be used at the very least. But if the paint feels rough to the touch, do yourself a favor and clay it. A cleaner wax won't remove all of the bonded contaminants, and any wax, cleaner or not, will apply easier, wipe off easier, and last longer when no bonded contaminants are present.Michael Stoops

Re: Stand Alone Wax
If you build a great house on a crappy foundation, then the house is ****.
So most cars do need a claying and doing so creates a better opportunity to bond correctly.
I found great success with NXT 2.0 Tech Wax as I did a car recently, my Mother in Law's Fusion and I saw it this morning. It beaded like crazy. Its due for another wash but keeping up with a quick wax is the best practice.

Re: Stand Alone Wax
Do you mean a wax that does not need to be applied with another wax? For example, a lot of people layer a sealant line NXT 2.0 for durability followed by a wax like Gold Class for looks, but that is optional with all the waxes/sealants Meguiar's makes. The only thing is if you do layer them, put the sealant down first. Otherwise, I just have been using 1 coat of Gold Class and it works great for me (although I admit my car doesn't get out much). You can also put down multiple layers of just a sealant or multiple layers of just a wax.
And the preparation step, of course you will get the best results with any wax or sealant if you properly prepare the car's paint.
