  • Whats the difference between NXT and NXT 2.0? Why the change?

I have a bottle of NXT and never liked it since it left "streaks" on black cars. Browsing an online store, I noticed NXT 2.0?

What the difference between the two?

I am guessing the new hydrophobic technology and increased longevity perhaps. You would have to wait for one of the Mike's to give you exacts if you would like but I would pick up NXT 2.0, it's great stuff!

Certainly depends on what was causing the streaks.

I think the Nxt 2.0 is easier to use, but still wants a prepared surface, and left to dry properly. I also think the Nxt's take a little longer to dry.

Probably some oily residue on the wax? Maybe I just need to wait for them to dry? I have better luck with Carnuba waxes.

I've seen some photos of the cars using NXT 2.0 and they do look pretty impressive. But doesn't the original NXT offer the same outcome?

I still use the original M21, trying to get rid of it though.

From my experience, I didnt like Nxt, I liked #21. Nxt didnt seem to hold its look as long. It may have lasted longer than it looked, but not too thrilled.

Nxt 2.0 seems better than #21, as far as looks, durability, and the water run off. Now, I have not tried #21 2.0. I would say it is better all around than Nxt.

Incidently, there is also a Gold Class + now. It is like the Gold Class with most or all of the additions that the 2.0 products got.

NXT 2.0 has been on the market for 3 years now and it offers longer lasting shine than the original, plus the hydrophobic polymers that cause it to shed water like a duck.

Any streaking you may have gotten with the original can still exist with the 2.0 version, but they are very easy to avoid. It is important to apply as tin a coat of NXT as possible and let it dry fully prior to wipe off. Thin means just a couple of ounces are all that's needed to cover a full sized American sedan - most people then to severely over use it or any other wax. On a light colored car you should almost have a hard time seeing it on the paint. On a dark colored car the paint should just look like it has a very thin, wet film on it while applying, and not much different when dry. After covering all the painted surfaces of the vehicle, give it a full 30 minutes to dry. If temperature is dropping near or below 60F or humidity is starting to rise, drying could take even longer. Combine low temp and high humidity and the drying time can extend even further. From personal experience and experimentation you can leave a coat of NXT on the paint for a couple of hours and it will still wipe off with virtually no effort. It will certainly be completely dry by that time and streaking will be a non issue.

Now, we aren't suggesting you let NXT 2.0 dry for two hours, just that it's better to leave it on a little longer than you think you might need to rather than trying to take it off too soon.
