  • Diluting QD

Is it possible to dilute QD 1:1 for claying and/or regular QDing? I know that Last Touch is created with the intent of being diluted for clay use but I am curious to see if the same application could work for QD.

I know this is not a Meguiars recommended procedure but I heard Fly Bye say one time that he has used QD diluted with distilled water 1:1 with great results. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Change the above to only apply for claying, I would QD only with the proper dilution to prevent as much scratching as possible.

I have such easy access to the 32 oz bottles of QD at my local Autozone that I wouldn't want to order Last Touch from ADS if it is not truly needed.

To be honest. If I am claying a car. I will do my normal....

      Rinse
      Wash
      Rinse

and then as the car is wet, start claying and using Quick Detailer and do the whole car. Most of mine do not need serious attention so I clay pretty quickly.

As long as the surface is cool, spraying some more water on it will not hurt it.

Somebody said recently (can't remember if it was on here or Auto Geek) that it is amazing how much people will spend on detailing products, yet they are so cheap when it comes to clay lube. I wonder why. That being said, I would not dilute it. It is the way it is for a reason - if you dilute it, you take away some of its lubricity, thus inducing the potential for marring. And QD is cheap enough, why would you feel the need to dilute it?

Regular QD is not made to be diluted or it would say so. <-- The answer lies in there.

            Re: Diluting QD

I know it shouldn't be diluted but I was just checking to see if anyone has done it before. It's not that I am trying to be cheap when it comes to clay lube, I just want to make it last a little lonegr because the amount of QD I use between claying and QDing is ridiculous. When I QD my car I am very liberal with the amount I use. Thanks for the responses!

I'm sure it has been done before.

Why dont you just buy a gallon of Last Touch and dilute that at 1:1?

ADS is out of the gallon size so I was just thinking of what to use in case they don't have it when I place my order.

You could use Final Inspection. It's a bit pricier than Last Touch, but you can go with that if you need something in bulk size.

I just got a couple gallons from ADS on Friday. I just checked and they are all out though.
