  • Gold Class Trim Detailer and Gnats

So the other week I saw something very strange after using Gold Class Trim Detailer. I had decided to wash, wax, and then dress all the trim on my truck. I use Gold Class Trim Detailer (trying to use it all up so I can switch over to using my bottle of UP). I put it on pretty heavy on all the black plastics on my truck, including the bed rails.

I let my truck sit in the garage overnight and let as much trim detailer soak in as possible. I moved my truck out of the garage into the driveway the next day. A few hours later I went to go wipe off any excess trim dressing and I noticed all along my bed rails that there were tiny dead gnats on them.

Has anyone ever experienced this before? My only guess is that my truck was in the sun, so the bed rails were hot, and the GC trim detailer smelled good so the gnats landed to eat/lick/(whatever they do) it up and the heat killed them?

I'm interested why this happened haha

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

    I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
    Remove swirls my friends.

      Now I'm peeved!

My bottle of GCTD came without gnats. Customer Care will be hearing from me come Monday morning...

Ok, in all seriousness, it probably has something to do with the scent of GCTD approximating a scent in nature that attracts gnats. Then for whatever reason, they die because they try to draw GCTD residue and it poisons them, or maybe it has something to do with gnat mating?

At least bees aren't puking on your hood, right?
