My wife will kill me if I wash my wheels in the bath tub.

Here's the deal, you shouldn't have any problems using this product in the bath tub to clean your wheels. To take an extra level of precaution, simply keep the walls and floor of the tub wet with water, and/or water and soap solution and this will act to dilute or protect the surface from any chemical reaction, (if any), with the Hot Rims.

It's the same kind of thing we recommend when detailing an engine compartment. When you detail an engine compartment, we recommend that you either tape the exterior paint panels off with plastic or keep the wet with water and soap solution. Both methods prevent any degreasers from coming into direct contact with the paint.

Bought some winter tires but never got the chance to clean the brake dust on my rims

Anyways if I keep the tub wet it should be okay right?
