  • Tar remover

I just got an order from ADS with tar remover and wheel brightener. I expected these to smell awful but they actually smell kind of nice!

My explorer has plastic fender flares and rocker panels, both of which have overhanging surfaces and tend to accumulate tar and gunk. I want to be able to put a tar remover there that will adhere for a few minutes before I wash it off.

Can you put a foam sprayer on the body solvent and make it foam and adhere?

If not, what about the Meguiars consumer line tar remover. Does it foam?

Otherwise, any other suggestions for using body solvent on an overhanging surface?

I have never tried a foaming sprayer with Body solvent, but my guess is that it will not foam. You should not need a foaming sprayer to make the body solvent adhere. Body solvent is actually slightly oily and will adhere to the surface you apply it to just fine. You do not need to apply it dripping wet heavy either. Just mist an even coating onto the surface and let it sit for 10 minutes or so, so that the body solvent can break down the tar and then wipe it off.

Thanks, it works! I was having trouble getting my mister working before and it was just squirting, but once I got the mist going, it works great!

No matter how nice it might smell, be careful about breathing in too much of the Wheel Brightener. It's perhaps the only product in our lineup that you really need to avoid breathing due to the chemical makeup of it. This really is only an issue in an environment where you're spraying it all day long in, say, a reconditioning facility. For the casual home user it's not really an issue, just don't go admiring the scent too much (like some do with NXT Tech Wax, UQW, M26, etc.)
