How often do you wash your car?

Hey guys, spring is here and I've had the "detail bug" the past few weeks and while my wife loves I'm home and not spending money at the golf course she doesn't mind that i "hit" the car every few days....really!

The cars for the most part are dusty and i either do just water to rinse off the dust or attach the Gilmour and let the soap encapsulate the dust and then hose it off...

I hit it with 151 about 2 weeks ago and have 2 coats of AutoGlymHD on it and have relatively no swirls ... i mean when have you seen a daily driver Tahoe swirl free!

So I know that if you clean your paint often (151 or Paint Cleaner) your taking off micrscopic layers of clear BUT does washing and touching up with MF's and Last Touch/UQD have the same effect if you have good technique? Let me add that I mist a panel, take a clean side and wipe the dust, flip it over to polish the panel and then onto the next panel.

What about hitting with the black finishing pad to apply wax ... am I still taking off a microscopic layer of clear?

I think i could keep my sanity by 151'ing the car every 3 months and waxing my car monthly and maybe 2 touch ups per week .... do you think this is a little much?

It personally isnt for me physically but do you think id be clear coat less in a year?

If you wash properly, you will not need to use D151 every three months.

Using a mist & wipe product with a microfiber towel to remove light dust will remove zero clear coat.

Applying a non cleaner wax (NXT, Gold Class, Deep Crystal Carnauba, M21, M26) with a W9207 foam finishing pad via D/A polisher will remove zero clear coat.

With the process you have outlined your clear should be thick and healthy for many, many, many years to come.

hi everyone
car washing proses was min 2 hours of hard job for me for sundays and after that 2 hours sleep but since a year i have changed my mind .despite washing the whole car with the usual 2 buckets method i do it partly. i mean it takes half an hour to wash the top or 1 side doors and quik wax after that.after a hard day its so relaxing also the car is always clean and waxed.

Wash it once a week, and quick detail btw washes, so it looks always its best.

I two bucket wash my car once to twice a week and try to QD every day if possible.

Depends if I have time and weather co operates

My T/A was done 2 weeks ago and parked since then, had dust and a leaky roof in the place it's stored, I had to used UQD in order to get the stuff off, I plan on a quick rewash tommorrow.

I guess it depends on the car and how much I like it lol.

I do not wash my car as often as before. I have a garage now, and I have plenty of qualtiy MF towels and Last Touch. Remember, wipe the dirt and grime (with quick detailer), while they are still fresh!
