  • Alloy Wheel Stains

I bought Meguiar's Hot Shine High Gloss Tire Spray (aerosol) and applied it to my tires following the directions. The product works, however, it dripped onto the alloy wheels below. Now my wheels are stained in spots. The color is almost looks like tea/coffee stain and is in multiple places.

I've tried removing it with rubbing alcohol but had no luck. After calling the hotline, they suggested to try either Scratch X or Swirl X to remove the stains. Will this work with my wheels or will this stain it further? Is there something else I could try around the house without damaging the wheels?

I couldn't get a great picture of each stain, so here is an example.
(If this helps, they're the factory 2010 Honda Civic EX 16" alloy wheels.)

    BUMP.

What products do you have to work with? If nothing works, I would try ScratchX. It should not damage your wheel at all as it isn't chemically strong.

Usually can be wiped off with a QD spray when fresh.

If it has set in a bit, then a paint cleaner would be good, like the SwirlX.

Have you tried a 50% IPA solution yet? What about Meguiars NXT all metal polish? D151??

D151 works great on wheels. I had similar stains on Honda accord wheels and d151 removed everything.

Here is another vote for the Swirl-x.

Here is another thought, try Quick wheel detailer. It has worked for me on many stains.
