  • Deep Crystal paint cleaner drying quickly?

    Hi gang,

I just used my new G110v2 today and it's great! I have a quick question about using DC paint cleaner with the yellow polishing pad.

I primed the pad well, and I started polishing the hood on my Cayenne. I've watched a lot of videos (because I'm a beginner!) and I noticed that most folks using any type of polish were able to run their machine on the paint for quite some time before the polish was worked in without any drying of the polish.

My question is this: is it normal for DC polish to dry up and become hard to remove with a MF after a very short amount of time? I'm talking 2 passes or less with the machine. What I put on the pad seemed like quite a bit considering the splatter, but maybe it wasn't enough. I thought it was - sorry no photos - but I used the X style of prepping the pad and also tried just doing the circles. Seemed standard but it dried up pretty quickly.

Any info or insight is appreciated. Thanks guys!

Not sure the DC products are really meant for machine use, that could be an issue.

I take it the surface wasnt very warm there?

Really?! I didn't even think of that. ****.

Well, it was probably almost 60F here today and it cooled off, but not much. Think it could really be the machine? Dang. I only have SwirlX and UC - and I just waxed. Car looks great, but still has swirl marks and some other minor blemishes which I don't really care about right now.
In Germany it could still snow well into April, so my "spring detail" will be in a couple months.

The SwirlX should be fine. You mean that you have DC Paint Cleaner and SwirlX?

Yeah, and Ultimate Compound. It did seem to work well in other places on the car, like the panels next to the rear windows in the very back. They were pretty swirled up from the winter - but it didn't really do much to the hood.

          Thanks for the help.

The SwirlX and UC should work better with the machine.

The DC Paint Cleaner is much milder than SwirlX also, so wont affect the swirls a whole lot anyway.

Awesome. I wanted to try the least abrasive first anyway - it was really runny too - almost like water. I've notice that SwirlX is really almost like a paste. That's probably a factor too.
