  • Prolonging applicator pad

What is the best way to prolong the life of Hi-Tech applicator pad? Is it, after using, wash it right away with dish soap, and hang dry? Any suggestions?

I realized this, when I washing one of my applicator pads, that had paint sealant on it. I could NOT remove it, no matter what I do, hot water, APC+, Super Degreaser, and dish soap.

trying to get any wax or sealant out of the applicator pads is pretty tough. it seems to never want to get out. the trick is to (if you have) spray some apc and let it soak, then rinse that out. this helps to break down a lot of the wax. but its not neccessary, anyway the real trick is to use some dish soap and scrub away at the foam pads and squeeze the wax out as best you can. it could take you 5 minutes or so but hey, to get ur car lookin so good takes work anyway !

Yeah, I'll throw the pads into a bucket with a little water and a healthy amount of dish soap, and let them stay there for an hour or so till I feel like dealing with them. Then rinse out and dry.

I would store them in an unsealed bag/box, I have thought they were dry, and they got moldy instead.

Here at Meguiar's Garage we just throw them in the washer and dryer - same thing at home. As they start to become a bit permanently stained they are relegated to interior use, then later to tire duty as they continue to stain.

I regularly wash mine in the washer. So far, knock on wood, they are holding up very well.

I just used two Hi-Tech pads yesterday, and I washed them with dish soap. I also, let them set overnight inside a soapy bucket (dish soap). This morning I just rinsed them off; it removed more old wax from the pads.

I use the pads and towels and toss 'em all into a pile until there's enough to actually wash. I use detergent along with some Simple Green. Half and half usually. I've never had a problem with stuff not coming out.

I'm surprised no one mentioned Dawn Power Dissolve yet. It was one of the few things I found that could kill NXT from my apps

I use that to scrub my DA pads.
