  • Quik detailer question

I did a search but nothing answered my question. Is the original QD (burgundy bottle) safe to use on an NXT 2.0 finish or do I need to use UQD due to the hydrophobic composition? What if any effects would the QD have on the NXT 2.0?

    Re: Quik detailer question

The Standard QD won't affect the current coat of NXT on your paint, but you won't see an increase in Hydrophobic technology like you would if you did use UQD. QD will simply remove dust and give you a nice shine. But I highly recommend UQD for daily wiping. It helps boost your finish and gives an amazing shine. Standard QD is great for a Clay Lubricant and is less money though.

      Re: Quik detailer question

Mine was a question mainly of compatability. The car in question is a playtoy so no problem as far as the daily wipedown routine. I tried the UQD when it first came out and it left a haze/film that had to be wiped off repeatedly until I hit it with my regular detailer (Mothers at the time) which got rid of it. My current thinking is that if I use the UQD there shouldn't be a hazing/film issue with both products being hydrophobic in nature...yes/no?

I don't think the wax underneath would be the cause of the hazing. But if you still have it, you can try a panel and see.

I agree , I also do not believe that was the cause of the hazing. This might sounds strange. But how was your towel washed? A lot of times people wash their towels and dry them using a fabric softener. This will cause streaking and sometimes a haze on your finish.

But otherwise the 2 products are compatible.

Towels were washed by themselves with liquid detergent, no fabric softener in warm water w/ cold rinse and dried on low heat. I'm willing to give it another try after I finish the QD I have.

Another question: I read that UQD has a 12 hour curing time, is this product as sensitive to conditions as the NXT 2.0 as far as curing time?

UQD is mist and wipe, so whatever you leave behind on the surface will do its thing, and you dont have to mess with it.

Tried a fresh bottle of UQD today and results were just as told by others here, terrific. Left a very slick finish and enhanced color depth and shine. My thanks to Meguiars for another great product. Sorry if I sound like a newbie to all of you, I've been into keeping my vehicles up ever since I could drive(1985) but I've never encountered products that live up to their claims and exceed them based on my recent experiences like those from Meguiars.

Just shake it up before use, and should be fine then.
