  • Gold Class Rich Leather

I recently purchase a bonded-leather couch. It's leather on the primary areas (where you sit on), and it's vinyl on the bottom part (where you do NOT sit on). First, of all, is it safe to use Gold Class Rich Leather Cleaner/Conditioner? Secondly, on the vinyl part what's the best product to maintain it? Thanks!

gold class rich leather would be very suitable to clean the leather. i use meguiars leather cleaners for all leather things around the house. for the vinyl part i would just use M40 to clean it

I actually like using GC leather cleaner on my leather couch. I think it does a great job of cleaning it. This being said, I prefer Leather CPR on my leather car and truck seats. But those are also easier to clear with a cleaner and then go back with the conditioner. Once a year I'll use Leather CPR on the couch.

For the vinyl parts just use something with a good UV protector. Part of the leather on one of my couches faces a window and I'll even spray the leather in that area with a vinyl protector (303 or VinylX) often just to help keep the leather from drying out due to UV rays.

Are you sure it's "bonded leather"? From what I understand, furniture and vehicle seats that _are_ leather almost always are only leather in the areas that you sit...and vinyl in the other areas as you mention. What I read about bonded leather is that all of the material is mainly vinyl with some leather fibers mixed into the backing (under layer). So really bonded leather is not really leather.

The Gc leather cleaner will work fine on the couch. The only thing so far that I have tried #40 on inside the house is,clock/ radio's stereos stuff like that.

Our leather products are perfectly safe to use on vinyl so you can use one product on the entire piece of furniture.

One thing to keep in mind, however, is that home furnishing leather is not always treated the same as automotive leather. We have seen cases where our automotive leather products have darkened some home furnishing leather, and quite noticeably so. This mostly happens on leather with a more natural or rustic finish/appearance to it. Of course, on black leather it's a non issue, but on some lighter colors the darkening effect can be significant. Always test first in an inconspicuous area.

Thanks, Mike! Thankfully, my leather couch is BLACK.
