  • Ultimate Wash & Wax vs. Gold Class

I don't need to start up a big debate about the 2 car washes but I do have a few questions and things I'd like cleared up:

I use Gold Class for the sheer fact that it has a very high lubricity level and will help me prevent swirls better than other washes. That's really the only reason why. I don't much care about seeing suds, and I'm not as concerned with cleaning ability since I never let my car get filthy with stuck-on mud or anything.

What I'm wondering is, will UW&W give me the same (or similar) level of lubricity as Gold Class? I'm asking because it seems UW&W is more available in stores lately so if that's the case, I could save some mileage and just buy UW&W, plus enjoy a little extra wax protection.

    Thanks.

I have used Gold Class, and I have UWW but haven't gotten the chance to use it yet. Once I do, I'll let you know what I think. Hopefully others will chime in as well.

I didnt find UWW to be anything special in particular to lubricity. In this case gold class to me is a bit slicker but then again I have been spoiled with DG 902 and Optimum car wash. One thing I did like about UWW is that it sheets off water as you rinse and makes drying a lot faster and easier.

[I think I found out what the scent of UWW is. If anybody has ever ate star fruit, it has the exact same scent as it]

Here are a few comparisons that will help you.

        UWW
        • Produces more suds
        • Pleasant fragrance in the water, not as much in the bottle
        • Cleans equally as well as Gold Class
        • Dries easily, for me, drying time was reduced because of how the water sheeted off.
        GC
        • Costs less
        • Maybe perception, but I think my paint's color has a darker/richer tone when using GC.
If price were the same, I'd use UWW. I'm just not sure if your car is waxed and protect if using UWW is a wise decision. I believe UWW is slicker.

I think UW&W blows Gold Class out of the water.

Some interesting answers here! I personally like GC for its lubricity as well. I also love the smell. I have used about half my bottle of UWW and will not buy more when it's gone. I was not really impressed with it. I have never used any of the detailer washes, but for me it's GC most of the time and NXT when GC is not used.
There's no reason to become alarmed, and we hope you'll enjoy the rest of your flight. By the way, is there anyone on board who knows how to fly a plane?

If you buy soaps also based on smell, UWW smells like candy

I only have used uww once. I think from my limited experience that the GC is better for lubricity, and deep cleaning ability. I think the uww is a good product. Not knocking it at all. I like both products. I would use GC for heavy dirt. UWW for in between washes to give my finish a boost.

I prefer to use the GC followed by UQW. Nothing against UWW since I have not used it yet but I really like the ability to give my car a brilliant glossy shine with UQW.

I have used NXT wash but IMHO it pales in comparison to GC wash. NXT has great lubricity but doesn't leave the deepness that GC does.

Has anyone used the UWW in a foam gun? I got a new one and wondered if I would just be wasting my time and soap with them together.

That is one expensive soap if you do. I guess I'll try it through my foam cannon next time I wash my car though

UW&W creates a huge amount of foam when used in a bucket, but surprising less foam than Gold Class when used with a foam gun, from personal experience. What's nice about using UW&W with a foam gun, however, is that you get a lot of dwell time with the soap, which is a real benefit with this particular product (assuming of course that you're working in full shade so the soap doesn't actually dry on the paint).

We got a call from someone several days ago who was just raving about UW&W in his foam cannon - he said it came out almost like shaving cream and just buried the car. He said he only used a couple of ounces of the product and was just stunned at how thick it came out. He promised pictures, which we have yet to receive, so until such time please take this with a grain of salt. Still, we have no reason to think someone would call us just pulling our leg about this subject. We are curious though; eyezack87, have you tried UW&W in your foam cannon yet?
