  • Autoglym HD

I recently went to WalMart and saw a box of Autoglym HD for $35.00. It comes with the 5.2oz paste wax, two applicators and a microfiber towel. Have anyone used this product?

We don't have it at our local Wally World and I've had no experience with it. I have heard it is a $60-70 wax and is suppose to be really nice. Theres a long thread over on AutoGeek about it.

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

      Wal-Mart carrying Autoglym? That is...uncommon.

Mine started carrying Autoglym products as well. Those palm applicators are pretty neat.

It is sad that the Autoglym products are right next to those horrible rubbing compounds, though...

From what I have been reading, it's a pretty good concours wax. Carnauba mixed with polymers, with no cleaning ability. But for $35, I would stay with my TechWax 2.0 (lots of it).

The packaging is pretty neat, though. It reminds me of the Apple products, such as the iPods and iPhones.

Isn't the product like 5oz. or something? I recall this being a really small chunk of wax.

I will have to check out our local Wally World. May have to pick this up. Sounds like a decent deal.

Such a cheap price for an awesome LSP. Im waiting for my local walmart to stock up so I can buy one. I've been wanting to try AG HD for months after reading about it in the UK forums.

                            Re: Autoglym HD

I've used it a lot ... on top of all manner of non-Autoglym products and along with the new HD Cleanser. Both products are very good indeed and the HD wax has become my standard wax for wash/wax details and also offered in my correction details.

Durability is good - I applied a layer to my wife's car in November and it has seen through the worst winter we've had here in the UK for 30 years ... the look and good beading remained for a good long while; longer than expected, compared to other waxes I've used through winter.

The amount does seem small for the price, but compared to the price of R222, Chemical Guys, Dodo Juice and other mid-range waxes it's actually well priced. The packaging is very attractive and those applicators are really good indeed - just keep them damp. If they dry out, leave them soaking in water for 10 minutes or so before use. I will warn you that the red cloths do "bleed" in the washing machine, so take some care over what else you put in that wash.

Here's a review I made of both products over on DW:

One of my favourite preps on well kept paint is to use Meguiars #81 instead of the HD Cleanser.

Have fun ... it's a nice wax to use.

Thanks for the useful info. I hope my Wal-Mart has this product on Saturday when we go shopping.

                              Thanks again.
