  • does UQW "fill" light scratches?

Hey guys almost done with my gallon of 155 Last Touch and about to re-stock but was wondering if i should move to UQW "IF" it has the ability to fill light scratches .... been using 155 for a few months and am very happy with its versatility on rims-glass-trim.. silky smooth feel... easy application etc .. anyone have any experience or seen UQW fill light scratches.... this work or not work?

    Thanks!

believe it or not..and i am sure many others can agree...UQW actually does help to cover up some light scratches, not really fill them in though...only downfall to it is that it only comes in small bottles (16 oz i think ?)...but it still goes on silky smooth like last touch

Yes, it helps in filling in light swirls.

Agreed. I don't know if I would go as far as to say it fills scratches, but I can say for 100% sure it can very effectively hide holograms and some swirls. I've captured this effect on video and in pictures.

It is surprisingly good at hiding fine swirls and holograms. To expand on Mark's comments, below is a shot we took at a Thursday Night Open Garage showing this ability. The hood was wiped down with an IPA mix to remove anything that may have been on the surface, effectively leaving the paint "naked". The Ford stencil was then applied and nothing more than a couple coats of UQW applied before removing the stencil.

The hood had some pretty good swirls and holograms in it, and you can clearly see how those imperfections disappear under the application of UQW.

That's an impressive demonstration - thanks.

So would Last Touch be able to achieve those results on that Ford hood?

Last Touch is more of a lubricant only. It's water content then allows debris to be wiped off of the paint. So it does not really add anything to the paint itself. As I understand it.

I applied only two quick coats with maybe 1 minute in-between layers. That's all. I even filmed it and filmed the alcohol wipe down beforehand.

Keep in mind that not all swirls/holograms are created equal - the ones of this hood appeared to be fairly fine in nature, just extremely plentiful. A deep swirl can be more akin to a scratch than a swirl or hologram, and there is a chance that is your issue.

I know that on my Fiesta (Ford-owned, I just drive it) the UQW reduces swirls by about 50% in visibility.

As for application process, I sprayed it on the towel (and a shot or two on the hood), and then proceeded to wipe it into the paint until it disappeared. I turned the towel over to a clean, dry side for the final pass.

Correct. I use Last Touch to clay with and cut it down with some water. I believe that its the equal to Quick Detailer but just commercial version. Its also good for light dust and debris as well as after wax.

Another amazing quality of UQW! It did a very nice job on my Vue this weekend. One of these days I'm going to have to quit being lazy and post pics. Maybe this upcoming one...

Ive used Last Touch and I though that it did fill some fine scratches, maybe not as well as UQW , but still a little. Anybody that used Last Touch must know how high the gloss that this product left. It does leave something on the paint which lasts at least thru 1 car wash.
