  • My Rant About NXT 2.0.

So I OFFICIALLY hate NXT 2.0 liquid sealant. It streaks like no tomorrow. It streaked when it was 65F outside and it streaked when it was 105F outside. It streaked when I left it on for 15 minutes and it streaked when I left it on for 12 hours. It streaked when I used a little, and a lot. It's streaked on about 9 different occasions and it's always a PITA to use. The sad thing is that it's my favorite wax and when it doesn't streak...it's gorgeous. It saddens me to see such a pretty sealant streak like crazy. Can you guys at Meguair's please do something about the streaking problem? I know I'm not the only one with this problem. So is it my technique or the product?

PS: It's always applied via a designated foam applicator pad in the shade, sometimes in an air chilled garage.

NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0 will streak if it does not dry long enough, and it will streak if you leave it on too long. I would let it dry longer than fifteen minutes and not let it dry for up to twelve hours as that will almolst gurantee streaks.

Did you try the Swipe Test?

I use NXT Generation Tech Wax for a lot of my details, I have only had it streak a couple of times, and that was because I was not letting it dry long enough and I was applying it too thick.

Do you use the swipe test?

What are you using to remove the wax?

Are you sure your towels aren't contaminated?

Do you turn them often enough?

I ask because I've only had streaking issues a handful of times in my life, at most, and I use M21 2.0 (NXT 2.0) virtually exclusively.

We used it at SEMA in a fast-paced, high volume situation and didn't have streaking issues either.

Seems like there might be something else causing the problem?

Here is my thinking. I had some streaking when applying it too thick and when not folding my towel over enough. Could this be your problem? Just because NXT is such a great product Im led to believe the problem could lie elsewhere.

I think that is the most likely cause. Putting on way too much would mean that only the time is drying, so regardless of how long you wait you will have a fresh, uncured layer on the bottom that will smear.

The only time I had trouble with it was when I applied too much product the first time that I used it.

That's really odd, I've never once had NXT streak. NXT is literally the easiest to remove wax I've ever used, even more easy than WOWO Pinnacle Souveran.

Same here - never had a problem with streaking. I use NXT 2.0 all the time, in different temps, various humidities, different vehicles - never a problem. There has to be something else going on. BTW - I use the liquid version as well.

I thought you had a case of streaking a while back on the hood of your car? Did you ever find out what was going wrong?

Yeah, my hood does some weird things sometimes. I can't figure it out. Perhaps I never will. I did find out that if I leave any of the Meguiar's waxes on the hood for just a little bit longer than I did on the rest of the car then do a slow wipe, the streaking is knocked down to a bare minimum, if there is any streaking at all. Just one of those weird things, I guess.

Never had a problem myself. As long as you apply a thin even coat, it should not streak.

Can't say I've had a problem, either. As a matter of fact, here's a 2 day, 19 hour detail I finished up this afternoon. LSP? NXT 2.0.

Like previously suggested, I think you're either putting it on too thick or not turning your MF enough when wiping it off.
