  • NXT Wax Temperature Question HELP!!!

Hi Everyone, I have a question about applying NXT tech wax. My question is How long do I have to wait to take the wax off in colder temperatures??? I just bought my second bottle of tech wax and I wanted to put it on today. It is going to be a wopping 45 degress today. I know in about 70 degress you should wait about 15 minutes??? Also, Can I use cleaner wax first and then top it with 2 coats of NXT?? Any help is Appreciated, Thanks

i would say just use the finger swipe test. use your finger to wipe across the residue and if it comes off without streaking or smearing its ready to remove, it will take longer in my opinion in the colder temps, but i think you will be ok

        Hey,

I agree with the above poster; the best way to know if it is ready to be removed is indeed to use the swipe test. The 15 minute removal is a guideline Meguiar's wants its users to use. However, in some cases, it may indeed take a little longer in colder climates. I have used NXT in some VERY cold weather, and found that using the swipe method was the only way I could judge the required time necessary before removal.

I waxed with next a few days ago. It was about 40 degrees out or so. I used the swipe test and went by that. My waiting time seemed almost the same as 60 degree weather.

Actually, I think the humidity has more of an effect on drying time rather than the lower temperatures. When applying NXT at colder temperatures, such as below 40 degrees, you really shouldn't see too much of a delay in drying time (compared to warmer temps) unless it's a damp, high humidity day.

Also, there should be no problems using cleaner wax prior to NXT.
