  • Doubt about QD

Hi, I am a newbie in detailing. I just do it for fun and I always want that my car looks better.
Every 2 weekends I wash, polish, seal and wax my car. So the condition of paint is excellent.
I recently bought a QD to clean my car between weekends, was my first time using QD and I love it. I love the wet look that takes my car. And this wet look makes me use QD every day this week.

If every day use of QD could affect the paint?? I also notice that QD give little scratches..... how could be possible? bad procedures?
Every day my car gets a little dust because is not garaged and is my daily drive, but I think that QD is capable to remove this dust without scratch my paint. Maybe I'm wrong.

    Thanks for your responses

Qding can create what is called marring by instilling microscratches on the surface of the paint. QDing should be done only when there is slight dust on the surface. You should also be using a high quality microfiber towel to make sure you are removing all of the dirt from the surface.

Quick detailers, also called mist and wipe sprays are for light dust, fingerprints and smears and smudges. Depending on where you live and what's in the air, it could be that it would be safer to wash the car then to use a quick detailer.

Also, it's important to use a premium quality microfiber to wipe the quick detailer off. Of course, a gentle touch is important too.

Meguiar's quick detailers offer excellent lubricity to help avoid micro-marring, or micro-scratching, however we can't control all of the other factors involved.

      Hope this helps...

        Thank you for your responses.

I always use a 2 microfiber towels. One for remove the QD and the other is used to clean again the detailed area.

That's a very good way to do it.

you might think about purchasing a californis car douster or an oxo car duster to take the light dust off prior to QDing your car. i do it every day just as you described. even as i do that i see small scratches created by the process.
