  • Buy UC/Scratch 2.0 if already have M80??

    Hi All,

I've been using M80 for along time on my cars and it's really a nice product but sometimes it can't remove some deep scratches and swirls. These days, I'm quite interested to read about Meguiars new products and want to try them with my PC.

So, I'm thinking of buying Scratch 2.0 or Ultimate Compund for some deep swirls. Will UC be too strong for regular use? At first, I thought of just buying Scratch 2.0 but afraid that the cut will be quite close to my M80 and it will become abundent. So, please suggest me, Bros.

    Thanks,

    Get Both!

UC is a VERY aggressive product and shouldn't be used for just using light swirl marks. ScratchX 2.0 is great for spot treatments on isolated scratches.

And M80 is great for regular use on the entire car, It contains pure polish and light cutting power.

      Thanks Bro Megafast13,

Of course, it would be quite nice to have both in my arsenal but tight Budget, Ha Haa. So, if I'm to choose one, which one would be recommended?

      Thanks again Bros,

        I'd go UC.

M80 is a very versatile product for medium to light swirls. It finishes the car to a very wet look, which cannot be achieved by UC and ScratchX 2.0. You may want to consider SwirlX for light to medium swirls. But since you already have M80, that product is fine for what you are trying to achieve.

Ultimate Compound is created to remove various paint defects, including heavy swirls. The marring and scratches created by Ultimate Compound is usually corrected SwirlX. ScratchX 2.0 is a relatively strong product designed for isolated paint defects.

If your car is never subject to car washes or abrasions that may lead to heavy swirls, then you may not need to purchase Ultimate Compound. Given the small size of ScratchX 2.0, you wouldn't want to use it on an entire car.

Thanks to you guys, I have an idea now. So, I'll go for UC with PC with orange pad and follows with M80 with white pads and then my LSP. How does it sound?

            Thanks,

              Obviously only UC if needed.

                Hi Guys,

Thank you all for your comments but today when I got to the shop and see UC, SwirlX and ScratchX 2.0, I feel like ScratchX 2.0 would be not meant to treat the whole body regularly as the bottle size is quite small. So, I decided to buy just UC but the temptation of SwirlX is so high that finally I can't just help myself buying both UC and SwirlX. I'm really addicted to Meguiars products.

By the way, I'll use these products with PC and lakecountry pads. So, could someone please enlighten me which pads to go with each products?

                Thanks,
                HK77

You say that M80 has served you well for the past few years, other than on the more severe defects you come across from time to time. Because of that, we'd recommend you stick with this process and just use the Ultimate Compound on those areas where M80 is not quite up to the task. If M80 is correcting everything else, then there really is no reason to step up to the more aggressive UC for routine use.

The Lake Country orange pad would seem to be the pad of choice, and whether you would need to follow the UC with M80 can only be determined by you, after evaluating the surface following that initial application of UC. It is quite possible that you can go straight to wax after using UC.
