  • Use a polish before using Tech Wax?

Hi guys.. newbie member here.. obviously..

I own a 2001 Lincoln LS, which has quicky become my love. I wash it and wax it as best I know, as this is the car that has made me an enthusiast.

I use Tech Wax, 2 coats, about 24 hours after each other. But I was curious if using some sort of polish before hand may be of any good.

The paint is in decent shape (looks great to those who don't know) with minor swirl marks and the like from the previous owner. I have clayed it and used Scratch X before the most recent wax application.

That's all for now, but I am sure I will have a TON of things to talk about later.

    to Meguiar's Online!

I'm pretty sure you would love the look of the car when you apply a pure polish before applying the wax as the LSP. It would enrichen the paint and add a little more depth and gloss to it. I would highly recommend it! You can either get #7 Show Car Glaze or #81 Hand Polish

BTW, I also posted in your other thread about the whole process.

I just wanted to ensure I wasn't going to make a mistake doing it. Being as I love the results of NXT, is there any specific one you (or anyone else) may recommend?

A lot of people here in the forums like #16 Professional Paste Wax because it really gives the paint a nice deep and glossy look. I would have to recommend that.

          Thanks Bri..

It's a little late to order this and the other products you suggested, but I will certainly do so soon. I appreciate your help!

            Hi Angry_Inch,

            Welcome to Meguiar's Online!

You can apply any Meguiar's polish before applying any Meguiar's wax as the chemist insure all products are compatible.

                Hey,

                Just to add...

It is important to have your finish in the best condition possible before topping with a Last Step Product. Therefore, yes, I would use a product like #9 Swirl Remover (assuming the finish is in very good condition) to clean the paint. I would then suggest a pure polish like the above posters. I would use either #7 Show Car Glaze if the paint is SS, and #81 Hand Polish if it is BC/CC paint. Top with 2 coats of NXT Tech Wax, and you will be smiling!!!

I was looking at #9 today in the store, but wanted to wait till I got home to read some posts.

                  You guys are great!
