  • Ultimate Compund question

So before I start and make a mistake, I just wanted to ask a question about UC.

I washed, clayed, swirlx'd, polished, and waxed my car last month but from what I'm hearing the Ultimate Compound may even take out more of the scratches so I plan to wash, compound, swirlx, polish, and wax it this weekend. I'm thinking I can skip the claying since I just did that. The only questions I have are:

    1. Can I use my Porter Cable 7424 random orbital with the UC?

    2. Will these products remove the touch up paint I applied to the vehicle last week? It would stink to do it all over again.

    3. What kind of process do you pros advise for application?

    4. Do you advise just doing spots or can I do the whole vehicle with UC?

I have been reading about wet-sanding touch up process and I would like to try it but I need to work up the courage.

Yes. Start with the least agressive pad you have and do a TEST stop. Once you've dialed in what you need to do to one small section, do the rest of the vehicle.

A panel at a time. Wipe when done.

    Do the whole vehicle.

You might want to work on wet-sanding on a hood or trunk from the junk yard before tackling your vehicle. It's a whole other ball game. And you'll really want a TON of practice in removing the defect and the scratches that wet sanding leaves behind.

If this product were to be compared to the Pro/Detailer line, where would it fall between?

Just trying to get an idea of its ability to cut.

The cut level of Ultimate Compound would be *roughly* around a 6 or 7.
