  • Gold Class paste wax

First, does Gold Class paste wax have any cleaning/polishing characteristics? Everytime I wax my car there is a bit of color on my applicator after I do the whole car, it could be simply because I polish my car for prep?

Also, it does not last very long at all, in fact, I often find my paint getting slightly chalky/spotty after only a few days. Am I doing something wrong?

On the products page it lists Gold Class paste as a "clear coat" wax. Does that mean its clear coat safe, or specifically designed for clear coats.

    Help, I am so confused.

    1. No, Gold Class has no cleaners, but does have polishing oils in it.

    2. Anything that you rub on a single stage paint will tend to pull off a little of the color.

    3. Are you doing any prep work before applying the wax? Like clay, clean, polish?

    4. The Gold Class wax would be clear coat and single stage safe. It has been out for a while, so not specific for clear coats.

Nxt 2.0 is considered the most durable of Meguiars waxes, maybe something to look into.

      Of course.

I'm beginning to think that I may layer some Gold Class on top of some NXT, so I get the longevity of the synthetic NXT liquid wax and the beautiful shine and reflectivity of Gold Class paste. Will the polishing oils compromise my NXT coat?

      Thanks,

No, but putting Gold Class on top might take away some of the benefits of the hydrophobic polymers.

I intended that layering regimen for car shows, for depth and reflection. Because the Gold Class paste washes away so quickly I can reap the benefits of the NXT in no time.

If you are looking at car show type finishes, you might want to look at M07 which is a pure polish and adds depth to the finish. It doesn't have much (if any) protection to it, but great to seal over with gold class or even M26. The M07 --> M26 combo is great for car shows. M80 is also great for single stage paint because it has a lot of oils in it.

For daily driving, I'd suggest some NXT 2.0 (or M21 2.0) or maybe even a layer of Collinite 845 IW (liquid) or Collinite 476s (paste) if you REALLY want some long lasting wax.
