Re: Waxes
It's really hard to know whether topping NXT with GC will compromise NXT's durability. I think it's one of those YMMV matters. If you are thinking about your winter protection and hoping to get through the winter without re-waxing, then I would stick to two or three coats of NXT.Swirls hide in the black molecular depths, only waiting for the right time to emerge and destroy your sanity.

Re: Waxes
Since all Meguiar's products are compatible with each other, you can always top one wax or sealant with any another. While our official stance is that two thin layers of any wax should be your normal routine, just to ensure even coverage and appearance. Anything beyond that is just using up product.
Having said that, we see people comment all the time that they have a preference for the look of one wax or sealant over another. As so much of this is based on personal preference and personal perception it's impossible for us to make specific recommendations. We've heard about practically every combination you can think of, and can always find someone who loves it and someone else who can't tell the difference.
Many MOL members have a variety of waxes on hand, both Meguiar's and others, and like to experiment - it's part of being Car Crazy after all! So if you want to experiment, go ahead. You aren't going to hurt anything, and you may discover something that works great for you.

Re: Waxes
yup, try it out layering waxes.. its fun and its part of being car crazy
this is what I do when i wax my car:
two layers of NXT 2.0 (wait for one layer to cure before putting a new layer), another layer of DC3 (sometimes), and then add UQW on top of it
great results on my Silver metallic car...
about the durability, I dont know, but the climate down here in South-East Asia is quite harsh and requires frequent car washing, claying and waxing to keep the car in a perfect condition :]Ganesa,

Re: Waxes
just on this topic, does gold class wax acctually have any cleaners in it? if so wouldnt this make the topping of nxt 2.0 with gc wax counter productive?
reason i asked is because i originally started wth nxt 2.0, then tried to top it with gc, but heard somewhere that gold class contained cleaners, so i went and bought a tin of m26 yellow wax...
so what would you fellow car crazy guys recommend? at the moment my set up is 2 coats of m21 syn sealant, and 2 coats of m26 yellow.... my only gripe is that m26 is a pain in the a** to apply compared to a liquid wax... if i could get the same protection and shine out of gc wax as m26 then it would make it much much easier... if not looks like im gonna have to stick with the m26??

I have never tried the M26 paste version, but I am surprised that you are having difficulty with it. Perhaps you could describe for us your technique. The experienced M26 paste wax users might be able to help you through the difficulties.Swirls hide in the black molecular depths, only waiting for the right time to emerge and destroy your sanity.

Re: Waxes
sorry to hijack the thread but my car currently has nxt 2.0 on it and soon i am planning on doing 2 coats of m16 for winter...
should i make sure to remove all the previous nxt 2.0 before applying m16 or would it be ok to wash the car and put m16 on over whats left of nxt 2.0? im looking for maximum durability for a long Wisconsin winter and thinking it would be best to get rid of the less durable nxt 2.0 just to be on the safe side.
thanks
