  • colorx questions..

My first post here! hello all! but on to the topic...

My dad recently gave me colorx and i have no idea how to properly use it..i understand its a mix of a wax and polish...can i use colorx by hand??

how much will colorx help my color?

what about wash, clay, colorx, wax 2 layers? should i add anything in between?

my paint is pretty ok for an 18 year old car, still has its clear coat, i clayed it about 3 times, and waxed it after every wash, just needs that "extra umph" and remove out the swirl marks, will colorx help in that department?

    Re: colorx questions..

Well, if you really have lots of swirls that need fixed, it probably is not the best product. But as far as cleaning the paint, and being good prep for waxing, yes it is very good.

Here are some relevant links, esp the last one.

        Re: colorx questions..

Depending on how bad the defects are, ScratchX 2.0, or Ultimate Compound (similar to #105 in the link) would be products you might need.

A glaze/polish adds oils back to the surface of the paint. On an older paint, that can be good, both for the looks, and the health of the paint. You could use either a pure polish, or a product that has polishing oils in it.

The ColorX does have some polishing oils in it. SwirlX, which is a milder cleaner, also has polishing oils.

So, if you were to use the ColorX, your detaiol might look like:

        1. Wash
        2. Clay if needed
        3. ColorX
        4. Wax - Nxt 2.0, Gold Class, etc

If you were focusing on removing defects, or wanted to use seperate products for each step:

        1. Wash
        2. Clay if needed
        3. Clean - SwirlX, or ScratchX 2.0, or Ultimate Compound, whichever is needed to fix the paint as best as possible.
        4. Polish - (Optional), Deep Crystal Polish is good and easy to use.
        5. Wax - Nxt 2.0, Gold Class, etc.
        6. Wax - 2 thin coats of wax are best.

Do you have any pics, that could help?
