    Money To Burn & Need Help Spending It!!!

    Okay MOL, I just (at 38) graduated from college and my mom and dad gave me $300 for a graduation present and I need some help spending it.

    I have always detailed my cars by hand and after becoming a member and seeing all of the AWESOME results people are getting from the G110 I am really interested in buying one. I am mostly interested in getting rid of swirls and minor scratches. I really like the clay bar, wax cleaner and NXT 2.0. Here a few questions:

    1. What pads should I get first?
    2. What wax or polish should I get?
    3. Can I use the DA 110 with waxes or just polishes?
    4. Should I buy a bunch different size pads?

    Please help me. I really want to get into the polishing aspect of car detailing and need some guidance.

    1. for pads I would get the 2.0 machine washable. Get polishing pads for your compounds and such, you shouldn't really use the cutting pads, they are pretty harsh. Get a finishing pad for each LSP you plan on using with the G110. Keep in mind you want enough pads to have at hand while detailing, you can throw them in the wash when done and use a different product on them next time.
    2. I would suggest getting M07 Show Car Glaze for a pure polish and then Getting M26 or M21/NXT (they are the same) for a wax. Better yet get both M21 and M26
    3.You can use the DA for corrective polishes, pure polishes, and LSP's
    4. Get the Soft Buff 2.0 7 inch pad

    What products do you already have and what products do you want to buy, or if you aren't sure what you want to buy, what exactly do you want to accomplish.

    I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.
    I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
    Remove swirls my friends.

        My biggest goal is to bring a nice deep shine out of all of my cars (02 Mustang, 01 Tacoma, 05 Maxima, & 02 Silverado). I use the Meg's Wax Cleaner & Meg's NXT 2.0 Wax. I like the idea of washable pads, I like to reuse stuff. Okay, stupid question "what is an LSP???"

          Pickup some detailing clay (Mild, blue clay) if you don't have any yet.
          NOTE: Post count does not reflect actual detailing knowledge.

              LSP Is last step product, (your wax or sealant)

              Pick up some clay and clay lube as well, I suggest Last Touch for Clay Lube.
              For Correction work, pick up some 105/205, probably some M80 if you want
              M07 which is a pure polish that all it does is enrich the color of your paint
              then an LSP M21/NXT or M26 or do both, M21/NXT first then put M26 on top

              Rick will set you up great if you just tell him what you are looking for and what you are looking to do. I'd suggest buy a few Ultimate Wipes to remove product from your paint, they work great, and probably pick up some ADS Microfibers or for a little extra, Supreme Shine Mircrofibers.

                Got the LSP thing now. Oh, I already clayed the cars....all of them. Four cars in six days. I used the Meg's Clay Bar Kit. See the Clay Bar Believer!!! post in the consumer line. I was like a crack addict on clay though. Now, I want to step it up and go electric. Again thanks for the input.

                        Of the four cars you mentioned, three are manufacturers that traditionaly have hard clear coats in those specific models. If serious swirl removal and defect correction are your goals I'd consider M105/M205 with a random orbital (PC7424 or G110) the bare minimum. A Flex should also be considered for the amount of cars and potentially hard clearcoats...

                          UPDATE: I went to ADS and boy was everyone right....Rick was the bomb. I got about $275 worth of detailing stuff and it should be here this week. I am so excited. Thanks to all of you for your help. Oh, go to ADS for all DETAILING needs....they know what they are doing.
