  • 2 coats of NXT

Yesterday I had the chance to detail my red Ford F150. I have used NXT on occassion but I had the extra time to apply a second coat of NXT. WOW...what a difference with 2 coats.

The car was prepped with Klasse AIO with a PC on 4 and the NXT was applied with a PC and a polishing pad.

I must say the results were stunning with the second coat of NXT.

I also buffed off the NXT with micro fiber bonnets on the PC and I love these things. Made product removal so much easier.

Mike..if you could post pics of the technique that you talked about for removing residue from the bonnets with your fingers or a brush I would appreciate it.

Yes! I've been justified!. Two thin coats always look better than one coat. It insures uniform coverage with a uniform appearance.

I'll try to take a picture today and post it. It's kind of archaic, but it works and you can do it on the fly.

So, it is ok then to apply NXT Tech Wax with a PC (finishing pad) and remove it with the PC (Ultimate Bonnet) even on the second coat? This is assuming that the first coat has had 24 hrs. to cure.

I put my first coat of Tech Wax on my GTO for the winter last night using the PC. The more I use it the more I like it. Much faster and easier to apply and remove MPPP. MPPP takes a lot longer to cure in cold weather. Durability seems about the same with either product.

Oh, and the NXT smells better. MPPP smells ok though.

Yes. Not only is it okay, it tends to do a better job of applying an uniform layer which helps to make removal easier with the bonnet. Stay on the 2.0 to 3.0 setting.

          2 Coats of NXT

Should the 3.0 setting be for application, or for both application and removal? I tried the 5.0 setting for removal and it seemed to work very well. I did use 3.0 to apply it.

            Hey RA,

I would apply it with the PC set to speed 3 and remove with the PC set to speed 5! And, I totally agree with Mike, using the PC makes quite a difference!!

Thanks for all the help to evryone who replied. Yes, setting the speed to 5 makes for even quicker removal. The Ultimate Bonnets work great, and I don't even have the latest version! You can't beat the results. And with the GTO, more of the car is accessible to the PC.

Tim, are you using the NXT Tech Wax for the winter?

I'm trying #20 topped with 2 coats of NXT on the doors. I just wanted to try a different combination to see what it looks like and how it holds up to winter. Actually, the paint looked pretty good after just the #20.

I plan on using the Spray Booster Wax after every other car wash since it it so easy to use.

                Hey RamAirV1

How's the new car?? It has been a while since you and I have talked last!

I will be using NXT again this winter! I had great success with NXT Tech Wax last winter when I was able to test Lab Sample E!!

But like you, I love to experiment! So, I will be doing #20, topped with NXT x 2. I love the reflective qualities of #20, but love the warmth and depth of NXT. So far, I really like the look of the above combo!!! Just IMHO!!

                  Hi Tim,

The new car is doing great. I have 10k miles on it now and the LS1 feels like it is starting to break in. It launches harder than the TA did. I haven't had the new car in triple digits yet so I can't comment on the top end. I suspect the TA is quicker up there.

Hopefully this will be a mild winter. The GTO is supposed to be better in the snow than the TA was.

I haven't had the car outside yet, but the #20/NXT combo looks great. I still need one more coat of NXT.
