  • NXTv1 NXTv2 M21v1 question

Amongst the many Megs products I own, I have NXTv1, NXTv2 and M21v1.

I know they aren't cleaner waxes as the cleaner content is minimal.

What I'd like to know for my details is, of the three, which would least disturb a glaze if applied to it (all things being equal - pad/ speed/machine)?

I guess what I'm asking is, of the three, which has the minimalest (?) cleaning ability, all things being equal?

I believe that all three have no cleaning ability, they might "fill in" swirls, but not clean the surface. I think that you would want the glaze on top of your mentioned products, not the other way around.

You're only as good as your last detail

I do know they all contain something that gives them a slight cleaning ability...more for adhesion than scrubbing paint. Thus my question of which has the least.

A glaze should go under your LSP so as to *lock it in*, otherwise it would jst wash away and it's appearance boost would be lost.

Applying a glaze after a LSP is only useful for car shows where it lasts a few days only.

Don't have an answer for you, but I talked to the head chemist a few months ago and noted that when they re-did NXT the started from scratch, they didn't just take an existing formula and add new ingredients, they started from scratch. So it's a very different product than version 1.0

What about from your personal experiences of the products? Any thoughts may help.

Personally I've never bought off on the idea of layering when the word layer means the more layers or applications of a product you apply the thicker and thicker the layer on the paint becomes.

I've never seen anyone prove it works or prove it's a good thing.

My my cars, and any customer cars as of today I've continued to use NXT Tech Wax 2.0 as my LSP

Usually 2 thin coats if there's time, otherwise one well-applied coat.

            Hope that helps a little...

I wasn't referring to layering LSPs. I was speaking about a LSP on a glaze like #7. I'm wishing to know which would have the least effect on removing it.

They're probably going to be close enough in how they effect a polish sitting on the surface that it wouldn't matter which one you used for the purpose you're using it for.

Meguiar's always states that applying a pure polish is an optional step, one reason for this is because a *New* car, with new paint shouldn't need anything to make it look good because it's supposed to look good from the very start as it is a brand new car.

Besides that, a brand new clear coat finish is very impermeable, that is it doesn't absorb very well so any thing applied to it is very topical, that is sitting on the top of the surface.

So if you apply a wax or paint sealant to a finish in excellent condition, the clear coat is smooth and non-porous, then the act of rubbing a wax or paint sealant over paint in this condition is going to effectively remove any polish sitting on the top surface.

So you could just be spinning your wheels.

As clear coat paints become older and see wear-n-tear, the tend to open up more and now a pure polish can move into the microscopic surface imperfects and interstices and then not be removed when you coat over them with a wax or paint sealant.

Single stage paints tend to be more porous or absorbent and thus pure polishes tend to show better results on single stage paints.

A lot of how well any paint care product works depends upon the paint type and condition.
