NXT, by hand, or by PC

Hey guys, since getting my PC as part of the September sale, I have only had a chance to apply NXT with the PC once. I only did one coat, since I didn't have time to hit it again the next day. I applied with 9006 pad and removed with the ultimate bonnet.

Which do you all prefer, applying NXT by PC or by hand?

By machine (100% positive) because it can apply the wax evenly on your paint.

Me personally?

I apply everything I can by machine. Machines do a better job than my hand will ever do and it's easier.

At our Saturday Detailing Clinics, I show first how to apply everything by hand and good technique for each type of product, after that I show how to use the G-100 and technique for apply each type of product.

Machine. Hands down. No comparison.

Like Mike (*hums* If I could be like Mike...), I prefer to use a machine (rotary or G-100) over hand application as it is much easier to apply in a uniform thickness and is light years easier on the old arms.

There will always be a few areas on any vehicle that you'll want to do by hand to avoid getting wax/polish on items that you don't wish to get coated (rubber trim for example) and thus, make sure you have some foam applicator pads on hand to get those hard to address areas!

If I had a PC I would be using that, I hate having the "monkey claw" hand after you wax your car.

One other option that seems to work well is applying the first coat of NXT by PC, let it sit 24 hours, and then apply a second coat by hand. If you apply the second coat very lightly by hand, you might minimize the removal of the first layer. The PC, combined with the slight cleaning ability of the NXT might remove a tad more of the previous layer.............. just a thought.

I would have to agree with Boss_429 on this one. I apply the first coat with the PC because it goes on quickly, creates a thin and even coat, and adds a little more cleaning power. Then second coat I do by hand to avoid taking off any of the first coat.

Call me old school. I apply everything but the LSP by PC but I get pleasure out of hand application and removal of a good LSP.

As a side benefit, my PC pads are easier to keep clean. Wax is much more difficult to clean out of pads than polish.

I also think foam applicators are easier to control near crevices and black plastic parts. I seldom need to tape off when I hand wax.

I used my cheapie orbital (Coleman, $15) to put NXT on my wife's new G5 and my '03 Jeep. Also used it to put Crystal Polish on the hood, and Gold Class over the whole Corvette. Cannot beat the results. I have always started out too thick by hand, although even. The machine eliminates this completely. I did put a second coat of NXT on the Vette's hood by hand. But I am a machine convert. I may even break down and buy a good one for next spring's detailing of our 4 cars. And it is great for working polish in, better than by hand by far.

Glad you had some good results with your 'cheapie orbital', they will apply a wax and a pure polish shouldn't be a problem either but... If you get a PC you will never look back!

I figured I'd give it a try with a cheap one to see if I liked it. As I really think it is the best way to go, maybe I can get Santa to bring me a good one for Christmas!
