  • first time topping nxt with #16

    Does this sound okay.

Apply 1 thin coat of nxt wait to haze then buff off.
    Wait 30 mins
Reapply another thin coat to even out everything (will this disturb the first coating I did?) wait to haze then buff off.

Next day weather permitting top it with #16 or can I top the #16 already after doing my last nxt coat.

Another option is top the #16 next week after washing. Any suggestion?

You should probably wait 12-24 hours between coats of NXT to let the polymers set up.

It will also look better after this happens

I agree with PendragonZ. Let the NXT setup for 12-24 hours in between coats. The polymer base needs time to bond to the paint. Add the second coat of NXT then top with #16. #26 looks really good on top of NXT too!

Take pics and show it off!!

          Ditto on the 12-24 hours.

I have also appalled the second coat of NXT before it was set up and ready, just thought that was the best NXT will do for Me then I read a few posts that said to wait at least 12-24 hrs before reapplying and WOW what a difference. I have seen a drastic change in all jobs I have done, Appearance of the paint, depth of clarity and over all shine was amazing. I have noticed metallic pop that made the metal flake look bigger and Shiner I have also seen black so reflective that you could read street signs and license plates 100ft away.

If you can Please get some photo's before and after the #16 as a topper. I have read a lot of people really like the way it looks but have not seen this first hand...Yet

          Good luck

I actually tried putting the tech wax last weekend. I applied a coating and did the 2nd coating 30 mins later. I'm going on vacation this week and will be back next week to wash my car. I have a feeling when I wash it it will still be clean and sharp as I'm a neat freak and I keep it looking good.

One problem though is the color of my car is white. Currently it looks very wet because of the tech wax but I will put another coat of tech wax next week. My car is only 3 months old but it looks amazing in my opinion.

Should I wait another 12-24 hours before putting #16?
Also if I wait for that 12 hours before putting the second coat and dust accumulated on my car from the garage using meguiars ultimate wipe and QuickDetailer should be enough right? Should I spray it all over?

I would think that if it is at all possible you would want to give NXT 12 hours to set up. After that, I would suggest removing dust by using a quick detailer (I prefer Final Inspection) and an Ultimate Wipe.

Take some before pictures before adding the second coat to compare your results to.

Let us know how it turns out!

                YES

If you have not driven your car you can damp wipe it down with a microfiber, If it has been driven a shot distance QuickDetailer should be enough.
