  • New Products Availability in Canada

How many of these new products are launched in Canada already? I was at the AutoShow today at the Meg's Canada stall, I couldn't find Ultimate Compound nor SwirlX, but found ScratchX 2.0 only.

Really want to get a hold of UC so I can clean up my car. The paint's been pretty neglected for the past years, so there some pretty nasty swirls. I already have ScratchX and didn't seem to help a whole lot.

    Thanks.

I guess I gotta learn to read... it was in the first thread.... International March and April.

I hope it'll be up here in time for the detailing season.

Re: New Products Availability in Canada

I e-mailed Meguiar's Canada, and I was told that they have no plans of launching the Ultimate Compound up here, stating a regulation issue.

So far I've only seen ScratchX 2.0 in store, and none of the other new products.

Guess I'll have to travel down to pick them up...

Just received an e-mail answer from Megs Canada regarding UQW. Bad news... it will not be available on the shelves of your local store. So,if you want it, you will have to use Plan B to get your supply.

That is a U.S. number. The Canadian toll free number listed on Meg's Canada website is 1-800-278-4554.

              Wow ... that *****.

Is the classic "Quik Wax" can achieve similar results ?
I was looking to buy UQW ... but it seems it won't be available in Canada.
I know that QW is available.

What do you think Mike ?

Here's an idea: do you think I could moonlight as a Meguiar's "mule" (so to speak)?

Seems we Canadians really get the shaft when it comes to finding products locally...

Quik Wax is a great product when used on a finish already in excellent condition, it can create most of the results Ultimate Quik Wax will produce on the appearance side, (glossy and clear), but it's not the same product so there are some differences. Uses Meguiar's Hydrophobic Polymer Technologyâ„¢.

UQW is easier and faster to use because you can basically use it like a quick detailer, that is spray on, spread-around, wipe-off. Quik Wax on the other hand works best if you apply a thin coating and allow this thin coating to dry before wiping it off, (same for NXT Tech Wax Spray). Uses Meguiar's Hydrophobic Polymer Technologyâ„¢.

So people love this product not just for the results but for the speed and ease of use features.

UQW also uses Meguiar's Hydrophobic Polymer Technology, so water truly does want to get away from this coating and neither Quik Wax nor NXT Spray Wax have this technology.

So same category of products but very different in benefits and features.

Here's another option, can you get Ultimate Quik Detailer?

If so, while this product is very different from Ultimate Quik Wax you get very close to the same appearance results as well as speed and ease of use.

Ultimate Quik Wax is a spray-on wax that should only be used on completely clean paint, as in just washed and dried, or just wiped-down with a quality quick detailer.

Ultimate Quik Detailer is a mist & wipe product that can be used to remove light dust, finger prints and smudges. It's not for removing a film of dirt on the car, just light dust. It's not recommended for use as a clay lube and besides that there are more cost effective products for using as a clay lube.

                  Have you tried UQW?

It leaves a very slick, clear and glossy finish assuming the paint is in excellent condition to start with.

Excellent condition means paint that is free from any above surface bonded contaminants, this means the car has been clayed and above surface bonded contaminants removed and maintained this way.

Excellent condition means the paint is clean smooth and defect free as in it has recently been cleaned and polished and a coating of wax or paint sealant was applied and since then the car has been properly maintained.

All our spray waxes are meant to be used on paint already in excellent condition. Good condition is usually not good enough and the paint should first be brought up to excellent condition before using a spray-on wax.

Just want to point this out because once in a while we meet people that have not had a good experience using a spray-on wax but in most cases with a few questions it's discovered the paint on the cars owned by these people is usually neglected and needs normal prep work like claying and cleaning. For paint in this condition, a spray-on wax is the wrong product, a cleaner/wax would be a better option. After using a cleaner/wax, then a spray-on wax could be used because successfully applied a quality cleaner/wax will clean, polish and restore a like-new finish to most paints. (Do always be sure to clay first if needed)

This got me thinking. I saw standalone QD bottles on the clearance shelf at Wal-Mart the other day and picked one up. Is that a sign it's being discontinued? I also don't see the NXT Speed Detailer anywhere anymore, it's almost exclusively UQD. I still see clay kits with QD in it around though.

If you mean our regular A3316 Quik Detailer, then the answer is no. It's likely to never go away it's so popular.

That's probably a trend you'll see continue, UQD is a much more popular product than Speed Detailer.

Re: New Products Availability in Canada

Maybe QD was on clearance because they won't sell it anymore ? I was at a WM last weekend to buy 2 QD bottles as clay lube for the next weekends' details. Nowhere to be found, not even a spot on the shelf that could indicate it was simply depleted.

They do however now sell the clay kit, maybe some upper manager checked a box, saw there is a QD bottle in there so no need to sell it by itself ? Since I needed clay lube *now* I brought back bottles of Mothers Showtime. Works as good, but doesn't smell as good. I want QD. Unfortunately, Canadian Tire decided most detailing products needed a price hike last year, so QD is still sold there, but at $10 a bottle, no thanks.

I'm afraid when new products finally come to us, they'll be so overpriced they'll sell poorly and Meguiar's will think Canada is a bad market.

Re: New Products Availability in Canada

Based on what I was told by Greg, the two major retailers of Meguiar's products in Canada are Walmart and Canadian Tire. Basically, it's up to them what they want to order based on what they think will sell. If they don't want it on their shelves, it's not cost effective to import a product and have the label changed to be bilingual/cccr approved. Maybe we should all be putting requests into these two companies for some new products, with enough requests they may decide to ask about it. Just a thought.

And I noticed the QD on sale too. Not a huge savings, down from $10 to $7, but got a bottle anyways. I now have 3 of them. I'm pretty sure it was dropped from the shelves because they have the UQD and the clay kit. Someday I'll have to find the ordering manager and have a good heart to heart with him....like that will change anything....

Thank you Mike for your answer.
I can get UQD but i can't get UQW. (on a side note, i ordered one bottle of UQW from autogeek, to try it).

And no, i didn't tried UQW, we can't buy it here =(

                              Thanks again.
