  • NXT on Mach 1 - #26 after ???

    Hey everyone,

I just tried my first coat of NXT on my Mach1. I used to use Zaino, but thought I'd try something new.

Anyway, I did one coat yesterday. It looks OK, hard to tell if there is any real difference as the finish with Z5 was awesome. The NXT was definitely better on the stripes and the spoiler than the Zaino. The one thing I will say is the NXT after one coat is no where near as slippery as Z5. I am hoping this gets better after coat 2 today. We get lots of bugs, etc around here and slippery is a requirement to our cleaning efforts.

Will topping the NXT enhance the "slippery" feel, or will it just add more reflectivitly?

Thanks for your help. I will post pics when I am done.

Well, I applied the second coat of NXT. Here's what I found -

      1) The 2nd coat of NXT made a big difference in the finish in terms of being more slippery - still not close to Zaino Z5 though.

      2) Nxt did a much better job of hiding some surface marring and swirls. The paint was in good shape to begin with, but definitely better with NXT than Z5.

      3) The stripes and spoiler much better than Z5.

      4) The metallic on the rims really pop.

      5) No streaking problems.

      6) Z5 goes on, off easier (all done by hand).

      7) No mixing, no discarding used mix.

      8) Bought a bottle of NXT for less than half of the Z5/ZFX combo.

Now the big test is to see how long the finish stays slippery and easy to clean. I was always extemely happy and impressed with the 2-3 months Zaino lasted.

I have to say I am impressed with the performance for the price point. It does not seem to be in the same class of reflectivity and finish "feel" as some other products I've used, but you'd be hard pressed to find another product on the shelf of a store that performs this well.

I am going to try the #26 as a final coat and see. I will wait a few weeks as I want to see how the NXT holds up on its own.
