  • Tire dressing( spray or gel)

    Hey guys,

I was wondering if NXT Insane Tire Shine(trigger) and Hot Shine(trigger) would sling less than a gel like Endurance High gloss or Hot Shine tire gel.

    thanks.

With my experience triggers sling less than gels. I maybe wrong or applied too much, but they also say that gels sling less on the bottle.

I stay with triggers.. seems to work for me. But there is also cleaning the tire, how much the tire is grooved, if you wipe the tire after applying...

      Different tires just react differently.

This is very true... seems not all tires are created equal. I have found a bigger factor of sling are the groves on the tire... so I always wipe down after application with an old towel to prevent any sling.

I actually stopped using tire dressing on our Liberty and just use M40 now. The tires have so many grooves and different levels it's next to impossible to get all the excess out.

M40 soaks in though and still looks somewhat shiney.

I have found that triggers sling more than gels for me. I think it's probably just a tendency to overapply with triggers rather than gels, but it doesn't sound like that's the case for everyone.

Like others have stated it's all about the tire and the grooves. I also find that the gel is easier to put on some tires while the triggers are easier on others.

as long as you apply a nice thin coat and work it in evenly around the tire, you should be good to go with either. after I apply tire dressing and work it in evenly, i use the leaf blower to blow out all the dressing out of the tread and it also helps to aid in drying faster. I get no sling when I use this method...

I get a lot of sling unless I let it sit overnight. I know I put on more than needed as I usually apply 2-3 coats of gel and never wipe it off. I have used the sprays but they don't get it shiny enough for me but I can put it on let it sit for a half hour and drive away without no sling.

Any product left behind in a significant quantity, ie sitting on the surface rather than soaked into the surface, is going to sling due to centrifugal force. A heavily applied spray, foam or gel will always sling unless you allow sufficient drying time and/or give a final wipe down with a clean, dry towel. I go back and forth between Hot Shine Foam, Insane Shine, Endurance Gel and Hyper Dressing and get zero sling with any of them. But I always give them at least 10 minutes dry time and then wipe off any excess.
