  • Results from Plastx, Before and after pics

The headlight lenses of my Dad's 2003 325i were getting pretty pitted and a bit of haze from miles of highway driving and years of UV rays so I decided to give some Plastx a try. First time I only used one of those foam pads that comes with NXT and elbow grease. I took pictures but they didn't turn out too well. Awkward angles and poor light probably to blame. However I can tell you there was a significant improvement. You could definitely tell from a distance the age of the lenses. However now from a distance they look new and you have to get pretty close to reveal the pitting.

Ok, now BMW lenses are pretty good but, and no offense to Jeep fans, the lenses of Jeep Cherokees I've noticed to be pretty poor. My best friend got a hand me down from his Uncle and I must say after seeing the lenses and riding shotgun at night, the lenses were hazed to the point of being a hazard.

I was determined both for my own amusement and for safety to do my best with these.

Here we go with the pics, as promised!

    Right before, pretty bad shape...

    And the left, blehhh...

Now some elbow grease and a foam pad...

    Ah, much better.

    Elbow grease vs nothing...

    Elbow grease depleted...

Pretty good results, but I wanted something a little better. I busted out the PC with one of my aggressive 5" pads and went to town. Here's what I got...

And the right after some PC action...

    End results...

Not perfect but MUCH MUCH better then what we started with. A week later I asked my friend if he noticed a difference in the light quality at night. He said the improvement was definitely noticeable, maybe even significantly better. Hopefully safer as a result!

Hope you enjoyed. Any comments or suggestions are always appreciated.

      Good job on those.

Some headlights are hard to maintain. Whenever I do a detail on our cars, I try to hit the headlights/taillights with it.

I've used M105 by hand on my taillights and they turned out great!

The difference you made with just elbow grease and a pad is impressive! Good job!
